In the final message of the Unhindered series, Pastor Shelly Foley teaches that God restores the flow of His life within us for a purpose beyond ourselves: so a hurting world can encounter Jesus through His body and the Father is glorified.
The message focuses on three areas: the Source, the Body, and the Purpose. Jesus is our Source, so we must continually abide in Him and receive from Him rather than trying to manufacture spiritual life through our own effort. We are also members of one body, which means comparison and independence must be rejected because both eventually produce isolation. Finally, what God pours into us is meant to overflow beyond us so hurting people encounter the love, healing, freedom, and life of Jesus.

great things happening this week. We got all sorts of life groups getting ready to fire up.
00:00:05:29 – 00:00:29:14
Unknown
We have things like CRPS happening Tuesday night. It’s a beautiful place. Yes. To connect with God and to just start confronting snags, hangups, all the things that, you know, prevent us from stepping into the fullness of who God says we are. We got to agree with that. We have things like bowling on Monday nights. We got things like prayer happening.
00:00:29:15 – 00:00:52:22
Unknown
Tuesday morning. We got things like engage. Where Pastor David is is preaching from Galatians and and bringing clarity to the gospel of Christ that only makes your life a better, a better life lived a better life of blessing, a better life of connection with the father. And so if you lack those things, you should be stepping into some of these things.
00:00:52:25 – 00:01:21:14
Unknown
It’s a good thing we are. We have a discipleship program school that is firing up very soon here, and there’s still time for people to to take their journey of faith to the next level. Discipleship in spirit. School of Ministry is deep, rich, and rewarding, and so you want to definitely make that a part of your life if it has not already been.
00:01:21:17 – 00:01:50:21
Unknown
Outside of that, I think we have high school and junior high that meet on Wednesday night. So great leaders putting together, great opportunity for young people to connect and grow their faith as well. I’m proud of our youth in this house that they preach. We’ve heard so many bring faith and step out with courage, and that’s not easy to do.
00:01:50:23 – 00:02:06:21
Unknown
I think we all need a little boost there. Give us some courage, though. All right. With that, Michelle, we we want you to announce what you’re getting ready to start.
00:02:06:24 – 00:02:10:03
Unknown
Hey, family.
00:02:10:06 – 00:02:39:20

So for those of you that may not know, I’ve been a financial coach for the last. Oh, gosh. 17 years. And I’ve coached clients all over the world. And we had a book building Kingdom Wealth that we were able to write. Thank you. And with that, we’re taking it to a new level. We would love to start a life group here starting August 24th.
00:02:39:26 – 00:03:07:08

Monday night, 630 to 730. And the thing that I it’s really pressed on my heart is that everyone. Have any of you. Do you really feel that confident with how you’re handling your finances? No. Okay. I mean, it’s just the elephant in the room in some cases, because people don’t like to talk about many. Personally, I had four credit cards and collections.
00:03:07:09 – 00:03:30:03
Unknown
My car was repossessed. I did not know how to handle many. So I had to humble myself and ask for help. And little did I know that the seminar that I was attending, there was a special meeting called Spiritual Equipping. And she said, everything that I’m teaching you about money and how to handle it is in this book.
00:03:30:03 – 00:04:02:12
Unknown
And I was shocked because she held up the Bible. And then at that point she did an altar call and I couldn’t get to the front fast enough. That’s actually how I got saved at a business seminar so God can reach people anywhere. And so I’m very excited to offer this, because most of my work in the world has been with people that did not really have the same beliefs that that don’t know how to truly have ownership, stewardship and leadership in their finances.
00:04:02:14 – 00:04:30:15
Unknown
But they know that as I’m coaching them through those same principles, they’re prospering. And I would love nothing more than to have our family prosper just as much because we’re family. So family helps each other and we can ask for help. Right. Have you ever asked for help from family? Right. So I’m offering my time and wanting to really pour into each and everyone that want to sign up for this.
00:04:30:17 – 00:05:02:01
Unknown
It is a discipleship program for finances so that we can really say, allow you to be all that God has called you to be, knowing how to steward his resources and then bring being able to bring that back into the kingdom so that we can make a big difference. Yeah. Thank you. Michel. All right. Hello. You’re next in the queue here.
00:05:02:03 – 00:05:14:15
Unknown
And so come on, run up here. You know, that’s that’s a a fast walk.
00:05:14:17 – 00:05:19:10
Unknown
So I’m going to get married this year.
00:05:19:12 – 00:05:35:27
Unknown
Surprise. October 16th, 630. Church is invited and Stephanos will be here. So. Right. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
00:05:36:00 – 00:05:43:10
Unknown
Woohoo! Come on! You guys are invited. Yeah!
00:05:43:13 – 00:05:58:16
Unknown
All right. And with that, let’s. Let’s get Mrs. Shalom Foley up here.
00:05:58:18 – 00:06:04:22
Unknown
I feel like I might be in trouble. Full name coming out.
00:06:04:24 – 00:06:13:22
Unknown
We didn’t catch the middle name, though. You know, I guess I guess we’re not in that much trouble when the middle name doesn’t come out.
00:06:13:25 – 00:06:20:25
Unknown
All right. I’m going to dismiss our junior hires.
00:06:20:27 – 00:06:32:15
Unknown
They are welcome to go to the back. Can we just give a little shout out to our junior high teachers as well? Man.
00:06:32:17 – 00:07:01:26
Unknown
Man, they are so faithful to bring the word of the Lord to our kids in a way that they can digest, right? And they they have to miss, you know, these messages and stuff at times, which maybe is fine. Maybe they prefer. Right, Brian? And no, but it’s such a it’s such an honor to serve alongside of people who are so willing to give up their lives.
00:07:01:29 – 00:07:29:13
Unknown
You know, we talk a lot about our Sam co team and how much they give, and they do, but also our junior high and our high school teams are just amazing. So thank you guys. You guys are great. All right. Whoo! Here we are. This is our final week of our series unhindered. Oh, that’s kind of cool. We want to keep going.
00:07:29:15 – 00:08:00:10
Unknown
I thought you were done with the beatings. I’m just kidding. You know, this has been a really incredible series, and it was a very unexpected series for me when I began to unpack some prophetic words. I know we have some visitors in the house, so the series is called unhindered, and it’s been birthed out of teaching some on some prophetic words that were given to our church.
00:08:00:10 – 00:08:28:04
Unknown
And the Bible is prophecy. Do you guys know that the Bible is the Word of God given to men and women who wrote it down and delivered it to mankind? And we do not believe that God stopped speaking to man in the first century in the book of acts, that he still speaks just like he has done for centuries and millennials.
00:08:28:08 – 00:08:49:15
Unknown
And he speaks to us today. And there was some prophetic words given, and we’ve been unpacking them this summer, and I’m actually going to read I’m going to read the whole thing again today. Yeah. It’s good. We’re going to start and close with the whole thing. But I was saying this has really come as a surprise, surprise to me.
00:08:49:18 – 00:09:19:19
Unknown
When I began to read these words, I was like, man, these are great. But then when the Lord began to unpack what he was trying to say to his church, it was more than I expected. I’ll just say that much. And he challenged my life so much more than I expected to be challenged, and I’m so grateful for it because he’s bringing us into strength.
00:09:19:22 – 00:09:46:22
Unknown
He’s bringing us into wholeness, which is what he wants for his people. And I am also so grateful that we have prophets in this House who don’t just receive the word of the Lord, but also give instruction and counsel with the word of the Lord, and counseled us as a leadership team to teach and to instruct on what God was speaking.
00:09:46:24 – 00:10:18:03
Unknown
So I am so grateful that that instruction came because this has been the result, and this has been an incredible time that God is beginning something and unearthing things inside of us that maybe we didn’t even know were there. Right. Unearthing some some wounds that maybe we’ve covered up, unearthing some some mindsets and some questions that maybe we don’t like to vocalize, right?
00:10:18:09 – 00:10:52:19
Unknown
That maybe in our church world, we don’t want to sound like we don’t have faith in our church world, we don’t want to sound like we’re wounded and have pain in our church world. We don’t want to say that we don’t understand something even when we don’t. And God is challenging us in this series to not let that perception of what we’re supposed to be in this room create a hindrance in our lives because he wants to expose those things that we bury.
00:10:52:21 – 00:11:28:06
Unknown
He wants to expose the things that sometimes we don’t want to speak out loud, but maybe we just think about a lot so that he can bring clarity so he can bring healing and restoration and transformation. And that is what the series has been about being unhindered, not predicting what might happen, not listening to these prophetic words that we’re going to do and trying to figure it out how it’s all, all going to come to pass.
00:11:28:06 – 00:12:01:16
Unknown
That’s not the point. We’re preparing ourselves for whatever comes by, remaining on, hindered in our relationship with God. Right? That has been something I’ve said every week. We must remain unhindered in our relationship with God. That is the fullness he is calling us to and these challenging us to do so last week. I’m not going to spend a lot of time on going backwards, because I have a lot to cover.
00:12:01:16 – 00:12:38:01
Unknown
And our final and our final session here today and hour of this series. But last week we talked about how God restores the flow of life in our lives. And we broke down that he he heals those places of wounding woundedness. He heals those places. Yeah. He transforms. He transforms what? The wound shaped in us. Who? That one was rough for me, guys.
00:12:38:04 – 00:13:08:27
Unknown
Who? Man, I’ve allowed a wound to shape me. I allowed it to color. How I see life, how I see people, how I respond, who. But God wants to transform that place, transform it back to his purposes, and he wants to restore the flow of God. He wants to bring restoration in our lives, the fullness of what he has for us.
00:13:08:27 – 00:13:26:02
Unknown
You guys, we ended last week with Jesus inviting us. He said, if anyone thirsts, let them come to me and drink.
00:13:26:05 – 00:13:43:28
Unknown
Because out of his heart will flow the rivers of living waters. Now I believe this is just the beginning. We’re not ending a series and ending it here.
00:13:44:01 – 00:14:02:18
Unknown
This must be something that we allow God to continue to work our lives in our lives. It cannot. It should not. I beg you not to let it end today.
00:14:02:20 – 00:14:24:21
Unknown
But that we would continue to allow God to restore the flow of life in us. And here’s the great thing his life was never meant to stop at us.
00:14:24:23 – 00:14:34:28
Unknown
He doesn’t want to restore the flow just to fill you.
00:14:35:00 – 00:14:57:00
Unknown
It wasn’t meant to stop here. It is meant to flow out men. So today, as we close this series, we are asking one final question. Why does God restore the flow?
00:14:57:02 – 00:15:21:14
Unknown
So before we answer this, I want I want to hear both prophetic words again in full. We we heard him at the beginning. We emailed them out. If anybody didn’t get that email and wants them, please let us know. We’ll we’ll send it to you. But I think that after walking through this series together, that we’re going to hear them a little bit differently now.
00:15:21:17 – 00:15:46:08
Unknown
Yeah. And as I read this, these prophetic words, I want you to listen for three things. I want you to listen to for the source whose life is flowing. I want you to listen for the body through whom does his life flow? And I want you to listen for the purpose. Which is. Where is that life meant to go?
00:15:46:09 – 00:16:28:21
Unknown
No, not that slide yet. Sorry. We’ll get there. Jumped ahead. Almost. It was very close to my points later. So you’re good. Okay, so here here’s our prophetic words that God’s been and unpacking for us for so long. Bitterness, resentment, fear, depression and anxiety have been building up within the church, clogging the pathways for the transformative, life giving, healing blood of Jesus to flow into the heart and body of God’s people.
00:16:28:23 – 00:16:56:20
Unknown
God is shaking his church awake. The masterful surgeon is coming to remove what has clogged the flow of Jesus’s blood. But this is not something he is doing alone. It is something he is inviting us to do with him. We must choose to let go of the things that cause bitterness, cause resentment, and change what we are allowing in our lives.
00:16:56:22 – 00:17:30:29
Unknown
Then I saw a heart and a body healed, blood flow restored, the life giving blood of Jesus released, and the glory of God revealed. If we step into this, we will once again begin to see miracles, signs and wonders. This. Then this came with a warning that there is coming like arrows in the night. The things that I have mentioned and their names are bitterness, resentment, depression, anxiety and fear.
00:17:31:01 – 00:18:03:06
Unknown
They come with this purpose to isolate and devour. But this is not God’s purpose. So repent and reject the tactics of the devourer and see the life giving power of the Most High God flow. Amen. The next prophetic word started with Psalm 18, verses one through three. He said, I will love you, O Lord, my strength, O Lord.
00:18:03:07 – 00:18:37:09
Unknown
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my strength, and whom I will trust. My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. So shall I be saved from my enemies. There is a season we are beginning to enter into that will bring with it a great press against your faith, both individually and corporately.
00:18:37:11 – 00:19:11:05
Unknown
This will come through news of discoveries and the uncovering of new facts in natural realms, and will cause doubt and fear in the hearts of my people, and a strange pride and haughtiness in the lives of those who do not know me. This season will be marked by the slow closing of a door in the spirit, and will cause many to doubt what they have known, and for some, even who they have known.
00:19:11:08 – 00:19:59:28
Unknown
Do not fear this time, my people. Be prepared for it by establishing yourself in a relationship with me that is based on me providing and you receiving. Understand that it is my grace and my power that is continually being provided from me. Your Heavenly Father enter into the mode of being a receptor, a son and a daughter that does not have to earn from me or work for my anointing, or for that matter, do anything that would place you in a position that justifies your entitlement.
00:20:00:00 – 00:20:31:17
Unknown
As you position your heart during this next season, you will see an unending flow of my miracle working power flow in and through my body, my church, and each individual who yields themselves to me will begin to understand and live in a place of not by your might, not by your power, but by my spirit, declares the Lord.
00:20:31:20 – 00:21:18:16
Unknown
So even as the world and some of my people began to drift away because they have been shaken by the facts and discoveries of men, I will have a remnant people who will not be shaken or their faith rattled by these events. And when you see these people who have been persuaded and dissuaded by these forms of knowledge beginning to turn to my church, they will turn to my people, my anointed, for their healing and salvation, and care for their souls, because they have been shipwrecked by the empty promises of the world, and you will heal them.
00:21:18:18 – 00:22:05:19
Unknown
You will bring peace to their souls and direction for the balance of their lives, because you will have positioned your lives as a full receptor of my grace. And in and through you, I will bring my life into the lives of a dead and dying world. Be alert to this, because you will be strategically positioned when they bring their broken bodies, their injured souls and dead spirits into my house, into you, and I will use you to pour into them my, that will break the yokes of bondage to the death of this world.
00:22:05:22 – 00:22:37:16
Unknown
Commit to your memory. It’s my life, my anointing, my provision, my healing, my love that is compelling you and flowing in and through you, says the Lord. Amen. Man, there’s so much I’m not going to try to cover every line we haven’t talked about. It’s not the point.
00:22:37:18 – 00:23:01:08
Unknown
But although there’s a lot, the message is so clear. God is preparing a people who will remain steadfast, preparing a people whose hearts will remain open and through whom his life can flow freely.
00:23:01:10 – 00:23:09:02
Unknown
So today we ask the last question why does God restore the flow?
00:23:09:04 – 00:23:21:20
Unknown
God restores the flow so a hurting world can encounter the life of Jesus through his body.
00:23:21:23 – 00:23:26:19
Unknown
And the father is glorified.
00:23:26:22 – 00:23:57:10
Unknown
So today, it’s not just a conclusion. I believe it’s a call. It’s a call to remain connected, to refuse isolation, and to carry his life into places where death and fear and pain and confusion have been speaking too loudly. We are going to answer this question by focusing on three things that the prophetic word keeps bringing us back to the source, remaining connected to Jesus.
00:23:57:12 – 00:24:17:03
Unknown
Number two, the body remaining connected to one another, and the purpose which is to carry his life to a dying world, to carry his life.
00:24:17:06 – 00:24:33:25
Unknown
This is where this whole series has been leading. And before we talk about what flows through us, we need to begin with understanding where the life comes from.
00:24:33:28 – 00:25:07:02
Unknown
The source. We must remain connected to Jesus. The prophecy made it so clear, and the Word of God connects it so clearly that it is his life, not ours, that we are bringing, but we must remain connected. The prophecy stated that we had to commit this to memory, that it was his life, his anointing, his provision, his healing, his love that compels us and flows through us.
00:25:07:04 – 00:25:25:01
Unknown
We need to remember where this life comes from. It’s his. You see, we’re not being asked to manufacture anything on our own, but we’re being invited to remain connected to the source.
00:25:25:04 – 00:25:55:25
Unknown
We must abide, receive, and then we can overflow. Jesus gives us this picture in John 15. He says, abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him bears much fruit.
00:25:55:29 – 00:26:03:20
Unknown
For without me you can do nothing.
00:26:03:23 – 00:26:08:06
Unknown
That’s a bold statement.
00:26:08:08 – 00:26:39:13
Unknown
You know, a lot of us know this picture. The branch is not responsible for creating life. It’s responsible to remain connected. Right? This is something that we know we’ve been taught. But Jesus here, he’s preparing his disciples to carry his mission after he leaves. And he’s reminding them where the source of their life comes from. He says, without me, you can do nothing.
00:26:39:16 – 00:27:07:02
Unknown
Now, this is not encouragement to improve our quiet time. He is confronting the assumption that we can use our experiences after gifts, our knowledge, or our ministry abilities while gradually becoming disconnected with Jesus.
00:27:07:04 – 00:27:17:21
Unknown
You see, whatever God wants to do through us must continue to flow out of a relationship with him.
00:27:17:23 – 00:28:05:11
Unknown
This is where the challenge becomes real. We can serve and lead and pray and stay busy doing really good things, while slowly relying more and more on our own self, our own giftings experiences, rather than on Jesus and the fresh anointing and flow he has for us. Activity may continue for a while, but the fruit of Christ’s life cannot be produced apart from abiding.
00:28:05:13 – 00:28:34:05
Unknown
Here. Me overflow does not begin with giving. It begins with a biting. So if we want to be a life that can overflow into those places that the prophecy talked about, that doesn’t come from me giving out. That comes from me close and abiding and him flowing through.
00:28:34:08 – 00:28:40:16
Unknown
You see, we cannot give what we have stopped receiving.
00:28:40:18 – 00:29:05:11
Unknown
This connects us right back to the prophecy. It’s about him providing and us receiving him providing his anointing, his provision. We cannot carry his peace while refusing to receive his peace. We can’t extend his love while becoming disconnected from his love.
00:29:05:14 – 00:29:39:24
Unknown
This isn’t another religious obligation, you guys. This is the recognition that we have no independent source of spiritual life. It doesn’t come from me. It comes from him. Comes from him. We are meant to receive from his faithfulness because what we receive is meant to overflow. This is why overflow does not have to become pressure. It does not have to become performance.
00:29:39:25 – 00:29:50:22
Unknown
We are not trying to produce his life for other people.
00:29:50:24 – 00:30:13:14
Unknown
We are allowing the life that we continually receive from Christ to move beyond us. Yeah, it’s so easy in a performance culture, the world that we live in, our Instagram culture.
00:30:13:17 – 00:30:21:01
Unknown
To be pressured into performance.
00:30:21:03 – 00:30:52:26
Unknown
But we have to stay connected to the father. That is the only way that the true, unhindered life and love of God comes in and through us. We must abide and receive so we can overflow. We can’t carry what we can not continually receiving.
00:30:52:29 – 00:31:07:05
Unknown
You see, though, this life from Jesus was never meant to remain private. It’s wonderful in private.
00:31:07:08 – 00:31:24:19
Unknown
But that is not the purpose of it. It’s not just me in Jesus. You see the same spirit who connects us to Christ also joins us to one another.
00:31:24:22 – 00:31:34:21
Unknown
So the source is Jesus, but the place he flows through is his body.
00:31:34:24 – 00:31:37:25
Unknown
His body.
00:31:37:27 – 00:31:43:27
Unknown
We must remain connected to one another.
00:31:43:29 – 00:32:21:03
Unknown
The prophecy tells us they saw a heart and a body healed and blood flow restored, and that we will see an unending flow of miracles, miracle working power flow through and in his body, his church, not just your individual lives. But it also warns us that bitterness and resentment and depression and anxiety and fear come with a purpose to isolate and devour.
00:32:21:06 – 00:32:51:12
Unknown
You see, isolation is more than just loneliness. It works directly against God’s design for his body. So if he is designing us to receive and to give out the flow of God through his body, of course we have an enemy who is going to come after to try to separate us from it. His sole job is to isolate and devour, and he will use every tactic in the book to try to do it.
00:32:51:14 – 00:32:59:22
Unknown
And this prophetic word gives us a lot of warnings the bitterness, the resentment.
00:32:59:25 – 00:33:11:10
Unknown
Also, you know, what about when we don’t understand things? What about when, like Linda said, when love doesn’t look like what I think love is supposed to look like?
00:33:11:12 – 00:33:41:29
Unknown
These are the things that come against us to try to separate us from the body. He comes against our expectations. He comes against our family to try to isolate and devour. Paul writes in first Corinthians 12 verse 12, it says, for as one as the body is one, and has many members, but all the members of that body being made are one body.
00:33:42:02 – 00:33:58:22
Unknown
For by one spirit we are baptized into one body. The spirit does not merely empower individuals. You guys. He joins us together.
00:33:58:24 – 00:34:09:21
Unknown
We don’t attend the body.
00:34:09:24 – 00:34:20:28
Unknown
We don’t attend the body. You are part of the body.
00:34:21:01 – 00:34:24:23
Unknown
I’m just gonna let. That’s it.
00:34:24:26 – 00:34:28:11
Unknown
You see? No member.
00:34:28:14 – 00:34:31:29
Unknown
Is the whole body.
00:34:32:02 – 00:34:53:15
Unknown
Paul continues in verse 14 and he says, for in fact, the body is not one member, but many. So if the foot should say, because I am not a hand, I am not the body. Is it therefore not of the body? Verse 18 but now God has set the members, each one of them in the body just as he pleased.
00:34:53:18 – 00:35:17:28
Unknown
You know, this sounds so funny when you say it like this, right? The foot shouldn’t should say to the body, I’m not part of the body because I’m not a hand. Like it feels so ridiculous, right? Right. So, like when you put this analogy together, it feels crazy. It’s like, of course I need my hands. And my feet.
00:35:18:05 – 00:35:43:22
Unknown
Like, that would be ideal, right? But yet Paul is challenging something in the church because he’s saying you guys are all part of one thing. So then why are you comparing and saying that I don’t belong?
00:35:43:25 – 00:36:01:00
Unknown
This is what comparison does. It causes us to mistake difference for deficiency. And Paul is warning us you’re all different. Get over it.
00:36:01:03 – 00:36:18:28
Unknown
Stop trying to be like somebody else. Stop comparing who you are made to be and the gifts that God gave you to somebody else’s giftings. Because without you. We don’t have a full body.
00:36:19:01 – 00:36:29:09
Unknown
We cannot mistake difference for deficient.
00:36:29:11 – 00:36:56:09
Unknown
Man. But I don’t pray as well as Connie. I don’t pray as well as Pastor Jonathan, so I don’t I don’t carry the same gift that Jeremiah carries or Michelle or Michelle Ballou. Like, I don’t I don’t carry these same gifts. Maybe there’s not a place for me. Not that good.
00:36:56:12 – 00:37:04:25
Unknown
Difference does not mean deficient.
00:37:04:27 – 00:37:18:00
Unknown
Paul says that our feelings hear me. Our feelings do not determine our placement.
00:37:18:03 – 00:37:58:21
Unknown
Comparison questions. The value of our place. But God places the members. So then Paul confronts the opposite side of this error. In verse 21 he says the I cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you, nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Paul addresses the complete other end of the spectrum here, and he’s addressing this independence and this pride that I don’t need anybody else.
00:37:58:23 – 00:38:12:05
Unknown
My gift is all I need. My relationship with God is all I need.
00:38:12:07 – 00:38:36:18
Unknown
So he confronts these two sides. He confronts comparison, and he confronts independence. I don’t know about you, but this independence thing is hard to because I’m a strong person. Personality. Maybe it’s better word.
00:38:36:21 – 00:38:47:24
Unknown
So sometimes my independence looks like strength. And I’m not going to apologize for being strong.
00:38:47:26 – 00:38:51:15
Unknown
But underneath.
00:38:51:18 – 00:38:58:18
Unknown
Maybe it’s hurt. Disappointment. Fear.
00:38:58:20 – 00:39:07:01
Unknown
Or decision that needing people is no longer safe.
00:39:07:03 – 00:39:13:27
Unknown
Better off carrying it alone.
00:39:13:29 – 00:39:18:23
Unknown
I know sometimes I carry things alone.
00:39:18:25 – 00:39:24:05
Unknown
Because maybe I don’t want to get hurt again.
00:39:24:07 – 00:39:27:25
Unknown
It’s safer that way.
00:39:27:28 – 00:39:40:04
Unknown
I might call it strength, but, like, if I’m really honest, it’s just control. Protection.
00:39:40:07 – 00:39:46:23
Unknown
We can be present, but still be guarded.
00:39:46:26 – 00:39:55:24
Unknown
We can serve, but still refuse to receive.
00:39:55:27 – 00:40:21:19
Unknown
And Paul doesn’t merely say, I love this. He doesn’t say that the I shouldn’t tell the hand I don’t need you. He says that the I cannot tell the hand that it doesn’t need it, because independence contradicts the very nature of a body.
00:40:21:21 – 00:40:44:04
Unknown
We can see in the illustration how ridiculous it is. But will we see in the spiritual? Will we understand that independence and comparison contradict the very nature of a body?
00:40:44:06 – 00:40:50:15
Unknown
Contradicts the very nature of who God is forming us to be?
00:40:50:18 – 00:41:19:23
Unknown
As different as they appear? Both comparison and independence, they lead us to the same place. They both produce isolation. And what were we warned in this prophetic word that our enemies first and foremost goal is to isolate and then devour us. The enemy isolates us by convincing us either that we do not belong, or that we do not need anyone else.
00:41:19:25 – 00:41:54:21
Unknown
Both are wrong. Both are lies of the enemy to keep us separated from the body of Christ, where the life of God is meant to flow. We’re the authority of God is meant to be released in the earth. He’s not working through individuals here and here. He wants to work through a whole body of Christ, one that has been submitted to each other, one who have submitted themselves to become whole in the presence of God.
00:41:54:23 – 00:42:21:04
Unknown
That’s when he can work. That’s when he can release the flow of God to everyone around us, to the dying world around us. Sometimes we can get really wrapped in our circles, in our church circles, and we forget that there is a world that is dying, that they are desperate for truth.
00:42:21:07 – 00:42:28:22
Unknown
Will we see it? But then will we even have anything to bring them?
00:42:28:25 – 00:42:41:06
Unknown
We must stay connected to the source. We must stay connected to how God intends his life to flow.
00:42:41:09 – 00:43:00:28
Unknown
You see, love answers isolation. See, the opposite of isolation is not just getting together in groups and attending church and being involved. The opposite of isolation is love.
00:43:01:01 – 00:43:36:07
Unknown
First Corinthians 1225 and 26 Paul says there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. You see that world’s word schism means to tear or to split or to rupture. But Paul’s answer to that rupture goes deeper than attendance and functioning functions together.
00:43:36:09 – 00:43:44:14
Unknown
It’s that love sees, but comparison overlooks.
00:43:44:16 – 00:43:53:22
Unknown
Love receives, but independence dismisses.
00:43:53:24 – 00:44:06:17
Unknown
Paul ends his teaching in First Corinthians 12 about the body, saying, and yet I show you a more excellent way.
00:44:06:19 – 00:44:22:20
Unknown
And that more excellent way is love. You see First Corinthians 13. The love chapter is not separate from Paul’s teaching about the body.
00:44:22:22 – 00:44:33:24
Unknown
And explains how a gifted and yet diverse body remains whole.
00:44:33:27 – 00:44:38:03
Unknown
It’s love.
00:44:38:05 – 00:44:49:21
Unknown
A body flowing in power, but not love would contradict the character of its head. Jesus.
00:44:49:24 – 00:45:09:24
Unknown
See, when the body remains joined together in love, the flow does not stop inside the church. It begins to move beyond us toward the people that God loves.
00:45:09:26 – 00:45:16:18
Unknown
So for our third point, its purpose.
00:45:16:21 – 00:45:27:10
Unknown
We are to carry his life into a hurting world. That is the purpose.
00:45:27:12 – 00:45:50:29
Unknown
The prophecy challenges us that if we step into this, we are going to once again begin to see miracles and signs and wonders. It says that the life giving blood of Jesus is release, and the glory of God is revealed, and that in and through you, he will bring his life into those lives that are dead and dying in this world.
00:45:51:02 – 00:46:15:09
Unknown
See, God does not restore the flow simply so that we feel better. That’s a byproduct. It’s a wonderful byproduct, but it is not the point. He restores the flow so that the church, he doesn’t restore the flow so that the church appears more spiritual.
00:46:15:12 – 00:46:21:21
Unknown
He restores the flow because his life is meant to reach the world.
00:46:21:24 – 00:46:50:01
Unknown
And Second Corinthians four, starting in verse five, it says, for we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord and ourselves, your bond servants. For Jesus is sake, for it is the, for it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who is shown in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
00:46:50:03 – 00:47:28:14
Unknown
But we have this treasure in earth and vessels that the excellence of the power of God may be of God and not of us. I’m going to read that verse again because I screwed it up. But we have this treasure in earth and vessels that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. See, we are not being presented as some polished, perfect, flawless, impressive thing.
00:47:28:17 – 00:47:38:26
Unknown
Paul calls us earthen vessels, which are like fragile clay jars. Don’t knock them over. They’re going to crack.
00:47:38:28 – 00:48:01:25
Unknown
But I love it because. Because God places this extraordinary treasure his light, into ordinary people so that nobody could mistake it. No one could mistake the vessel for the source.
00:48:01:28 – 00:48:14:01
Unknown
Yeah. You see, when people encounter us, do they encounter the heart and life of Jesus?
00:48:14:03 – 00:48:37:06
Unknown
When the prophecy says that as the blockage is removed and the flow returns, will we once again begin? We will once again begin to see miracles and signs and wonders. Those miracles, signs and wonders are meant to point people beyond us to Jesus. When it be really clear the goal is not that people look at us and say, oh, that is so cool!
00:48:37:07 – 00:49:03:09
Unknown
Look what they can do. The goal is that people encounter the life of Jesus and give glory to the father. The goal is also not the miracle signs and wonders. The goal is that people encounter the life of God that brings them into salvation and transformation and wholeness.
00:49:03:12 – 00:49:43:08
Unknown
Sometimes we mix up our priorities. We mix up what we’re aiming for and shooting for. We must understand that the father receives the glory. Matthew five says, let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven. So yes, let it shine. Be that earth and vessel that. Yeah. May be flawed and may have cracks in it, but that God has put together so he can put the life and the light of Christ inside of you.
00:49:43:08 – 00:50:12:13
Unknown
So shine so that everybody can see the works of God. Good works are things done in faith. They’re not the really good things that I do. I help the poor or I do this. It’s not checking off a box. It is walking in faith and that those what people are going to see through that. The heavenly Father, we glorify the father in heaven.
00:50:12:15 – 00:50:25:13
Unknown
The purpose of the flow is not to make the church look good. It’s to make God look great.
00:50:25:15 – 00:50:30:28
Unknown
Come on.
00:50:31:00 – 00:50:50:29
Unknown
When his life flows through ordinary people, when broken hearts are healed, when captives find freedom, when injured souls find peace. When signs point people to Jesus.
00:50:51:01 – 00:50:58:22
Unknown
That is what makes God great. Look great.
00:50:58:25 – 00:51:10:08
Unknown
The prophecy tells us that people are going to bring their broken bodies and injured souls and dead spirits into this house.
00:51:10:10 – 00:51:14:14
Unknown
So what do we have to give?
00:51:14:16 – 00:51:29:07
Unknown
We have to bring. Not my best gift and great experience. I must bring the flow of the life giving power to them.
00:51:29:10 – 00:51:36:06
Unknown
That is what is going to bring healing.
00:51:36:08 – 00:51:50:22
Unknown
It’s about people walking through these doors, carrying things that they don’t know how to fix. They’re full of grief and fear and confusion, addiction, shame, all of it.
00:51:50:24 – 00:51:59:06
Unknown
But my heart is that they find the life of Jesus flowing through his body.
00:51:59:09 – 00:52:16:09
Unknown
I don’t want us to be a church known for religious activity. I want us to be known as a people so connected to Jesus and to one another that hurting people encounter his life among us.
00:52:16:12 – 00:52:22:22
Unknown
That is what I want.
00:52:22:25 – 00:52:40:17
Unknown
The glory belongs to the one whose life is flowing. God restores the flow. So a hurting world can encounter the life of Jesus through his body and the father is glorified.
00:52:40:19 – 00:53:14:14
Unknown
So we come back to the question that we started with, not just to answer it and intellectual way, but to search our hearts. Why does God restore the flow? He restores the flow so the hurting world can encounter him. So hurting world can encounter Jesus. Through his body. Now, as I as I prepared for this final week.
00:53:14:16 – 00:53:32:20
Unknown
I felt the weight of this, not just because I wanted to make sure I ended it well, but. But honestly, like asking what kind of people are we becoming through this word?
00:53:32:23 – 00:53:44:21
Unknown
Are we just simply agreeing with it? Are we letting it change us? Are we letting it shape us?
00:53:44:23 – 00:54:17:18
Unknown
I don’t I don’t just want to be a preacher or a church that can explain things well. I want us to become a people who will embody this. A people who the life of Jesus can actually flow through, where people can easily encounter Christ when they encounter us.
00:54:17:20 – 00:54:50:22
Unknown
And so if we’re going to be that, if we’re going to be that kind of people, we can’t leave it here as a Sunday message. We must continue to let it be worked in our lives, not by trying harder. Hear me. This is not a white knuckle. Do it better tomorrow message. But by letting it continually working through us, by bringing our surrender to God and staying connected to his body.
00:54:50:24 – 00:55:32:17
Unknown
This fall. I want to encourage you guys. Some of our life groups are going to create some space to begin to dive deeper into some of the things we’re talking about this series, not just about understanding it, but learning how to walk it out personally and together with the body of Christ. And I know for some of us, there are places that this series is challenged us, that we know that we have had blockages, where we need healing, where we need prayer, where we need someone to walk with us.
00:55:32:19 – 00:55:44:03
Unknown
And I want to encourage you. We have leaders and pastors and prayer teams who are willing to walk with you.
00:55:44:06 – 00:55:50:15
Unknown
All you have to do is ask.
00:55:50:17 – 00:56:06:01
Unknown
The challenge is in front of us. Are we going to leave it here at the end of our series, or will we continue to live unhindered?
00:56:06:04 – 00:56:39:27
Unknown
Will we remain anchored to Jesus when our understanding is challenged? Or when answers don’t come? Will we keep surrendering? What could become a blockage and allow God to heal? Allow him to transform and to restore us? Will we stay connected to Jesus? When busyness tries to replace relationship.
00:56:39:29 – 00:56:50:01
Unknown
Will we reject the comparison that says we don’t belong and the independence that says we don’t need anyone else?
00:56:50:04 – 00:57:01:28
Unknown
Will we remain open for his love, his healing, and his life to move not just in us, but beyond us?
00:57:02:01 – 00:57:13:17
Unknown
This is where this series leaves us. Not by might, not by power, but by his spirit.
00:57:13:20 – 00:57:17:22
Unknown
It’s not about what we produce.
00:57:17:24 – 00:57:25:19
Unknown
It’s always been about his life flowing through a surrendered people.
00:57:25:22 – 00:57:46:09
Unknown
So my challenge to you today, let the life of Jesus flow freely and unhindered. Amen. Amen.
00:57:46:11 – 00:58:08:20
Unknown
Amen. I was going to have Jez come up and just give a quick testimony in light of this word and what God’s doing, and it is part of the story. God is working in our hearts and bringing transformation.
00:58:08:22 – 00:58:12:19
Unknown
Yeah. One thing that she said was.
00:58:12:21 – 00:58:47:17
Unknown
That where we allow the pain and the experiences to shape and, you know, years ago I lost a father figure, and Griff and I allowed that experience to shape my heart. It’s such a negative, evil, hurtful and hateful way, and it has caused a blog in my life. And I thought that I could never be free from it because I allowed the pain in the hurt, in the hatred ravaged tentacles around my heart.
00:58:47:19 – 00:59:10:15
Unknown
You know, in our men’s group yesterday, we were talking about confessing, and I want to confess that I’m ready to be free from that. And I want to confess Jesus. I want to give this to you because I don’t want this anymore. I don’t want this earth anymore. God.
00:59:10:17 – 00:59:38:26
Unknown
I’ve allowed this hatred to disconnect me from you guys, my family. I’ve allowed hatred of doctors in the medical system. And, you know, there were times when I hated people because I was right. And that’s so wrong. And I want to repent. I’ve had people tell me, oh, I’m going to the doctor. And there was this thing that crafted me that said, man, how could you?
00:59:38:27 – 01:00:06:05
Unknown
I don’t want to lose you in that. Right? And I heard you because disconnect in so many ways. And so I confess today, Jesus, I give it to you, body of Christ. Forgive me. I’m so sorry. And I need you. I need your help in this. Amen. Pray for me, please. Father, we thank you. We thank you for this day.
01:00:06:07 – 01:00:29:27
Unknown
We thank you for this word. We thank you for your freedom that is in Christ and God. We just continue to surrender our hearts. And I thank you for my brother and his openness to bring to you his heart and his pain. Lord, you’re with us and walk him with us and we thank you for this. In Jesus name, Amen.
01:00:29:29 – 01:00:39:15
Unknown
Amen. All right. It’s a raw day today.
01:00:39:17 – 01:01:05:26
Unknown
Thank you. Church. Thank you. Being together and walking. It’s not always clean. It’s not always easy. But it is always right. So we’re going to be going to fellowship a place across the way. And we’re going to share food, eat with each other, hear each other’s stories, get to know each other, look each other in the eyes and tell them you mean something to me.
01:01:05:28 – 01:01:12:14
Unknown
So, father, thank you again. We. We praise you and glorify you in Jesus name. Amen.
Throughout the Unhindered series, God has been inviting us to examine the places in our hearts where hurt, fear, bitterness, disappointment, or wrong thinking may have interrupted the flow of His life.
But restoration is not the end of the story.
God does not restore us simply so that we can feel better, become healthier, or enjoy a more peaceful life. Those things matter, but His purpose reaches far beyond us.
God restores the flow so a hurting world can encounter the life of Jesus through His body, and the Father is glorified.
Pastor Shelly Foley brought the Unhindered series to a close by focusing on three things: the Source, the Body, and the Purpose.
Stay Connected to the Source
Before we can talk about what God wants to do through us, we have to understand where the life comes from.
The source is Jesus.
Jesus said in John 15:
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”
A branch does not create its own life. Its responsibility is simply to remain connected to the vine.
The same is true for us.
We can serve, lead, pray, minister, stay busy, and do many good things while gradually learning to operate from our experience, knowledge, gifting, or ability instead of fresh dependence upon Jesus. Activity can continue for a time, but the fruit of Christ’s life cannot be produced apart from abiding.
That is why overflow begins somewhere very different than we sometimes imagine.
Overflow does not begin with giving. It begins with abiding.
We cannot give what we have stopped receiving.
We cannot consistently carry His peace if we are refusing to receive His peace. We cannot extend His love while becoming disconnected from His love. We are not being asked to manufacture the life of God for somebody else. We are invited to continually receive from Christ and allow what we receive to move beyond us. Pastor Shelly emphasized that ministry is not meant to become pressure or performance; His life flows as we remain connected to Him.
This takes the pressure off.
It is His life.
His anointing.
His provision.
His healing.
His love.
Our responsibility is to abide, receive, and allow Him to overflow.
Stay Connected to the Body
The life we receive from Jesus was never intended to remain private.
Christianity is more than “me and Jesus.” The same Spirit who connects us to Christ joins us to one another.
Paul describes this in 1 Corinthians 12. We are one body with many members. Every part is different, but every part belongs.
This means there are two lies we have to resist.
The first is comparison.
Comparison looks at someone else’s gifts, personality, calling, or ability and concludes, “There must not be a place for me.”
But difference does not mean deficiency.
God never intended every member of His body to look or function the same way. A foot is not deficient because it is not a hand. A hand is not deficient because it cannot do what the eye does.
Our feelings do not determine our placement. God places the members within His body.
Pastor Shelly put it simply: comparison causes us to mistake difference for deficiency.
The second lie is independence.
Independence says, “I don’t need anyone else. My relationship with God is enough. I can carry this myself.”
Sometimes independence even looks like strength.
But underneath that independence can be disappointment, fear, hurt, or the decision that needing other people is no longer safe.
We can be physically present while remaining guarded.
We can serve others while refusing to receive from them.
We can call it strength when it is actually protection or control.
Paul does not simply suggest that members of the body should need one another. His picture shows us that needing one another is built into the very nature of a body.
Both comparison and independence eventually lead to the same destination: isolation.
One tells us, “You don’t belong.”
The other tells us, “You don’t need anyone.”
Both separate us from the place where God designed His life to flow through His people.
Love Is God’s Answer to Isolation
The opposite of isolation is not simply attending more events, joining another group, or occupying the same room with other believers.
The answer is love.
In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul says that the members of the body should have the same care for one another and that when one member suffers, the others suffer with them.
Then he transitions into one of the most familiar passages in Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13.
The “love chapter” is not disconnected from Paul’s teaching about the body.
It explains how a diverse, gifted body remains whole.
Love sees.
Love receives.
Love stays connected.
Love cares.
A church can be incredibly gifted and powerful, but if it does not operate in love, it misrepresents the character of Jesus, its Head.
God is not merely forming a group of talented individuals.
He is forming a body.
Carry His Life Into a Hurting World
And this brings us to the purpose.
God does not restore the flow simply so that we feel better.
He restores the flow because His life is meant to reach the world.
Second Corinthians 4 describes believers as earthen vessels carrying an extraordinary treasure.
That picture matters.
God intentionally places His extraordinary life inside ordinary people so no one mistakes the vessel for the Source.
We do not have to become polished, flawless, or impressive enough for God to use us.
The treasure is Him.
The power is His.
The glory belongs to Him.
So when people encounter us, the real question is: Do they encounter the heart and life of Jesus?
Miracles, signs, and wonders are never meant to make people impressed with us. They point beyond us to Jesus.
Healing points to Jesus.
Freedom points to Jesus.
Peace points to Jesus.
Transformation points to Jesus.
The goal is not that people would look at the church and say, “Look what they can do.”
The goal is that they would encounter the living Christ and glorify the Father.
What Will Hurting People Find Among Us?
People are carrying things they do not know how to fix.
Grief.
Fear.
Confusion.
Addiction.
Shame.
Wounded hearts.
Injured souls.
And when they walk through the doors of the church—or simply encounter one of us in everyday life—what will they find?
Our greatest gift to them will not be our experience, talent, programs, knowledge, or religious activity.
They need the life of Jesus.
Pastor Shelly expressed the heart of this message clearly:
She does not want the church to be known merely for religious activity, but as a people so connected to Jesus and to one another that hurting people encounter His life among them.
That is the church God is forming.
Don’t Leave It as a Sunday Message
The end of a sermon series cannot be the end of the work God has begun in us.
The question is not simply whether we agree with what God has spoken.
Are we allowing it to change us?
Are we allowing Him to uncover the places where pain has shaped us?
Are we surrendering bitterness before it becomes a blockage?
Are we staying connected to Jesus when busyness tries to replace relationship?
Are we refusing comparison when it tells us we don’t belong?
Are we rejecting independence when it tells us we don’t need anyone?
Are we allowing His love, healing, and life to move not only in us, but through us?
This is not a message about trying harder.
It is not a “do better tomorrow” message.
It is an invitation to surrender.
Remain connected to Jesus.
Remain connected to His body.
Receive what He continually provides.
And allow His life to flow.
Because in the end, it has never been about what we can produce.
It has always been about His life flowing through a surrendered people.
Let the life of Jesus flow freely and unhindered.
Unhindered: Why God Restores the Flow
Summary
Ice-Breaker Questions
- Are you naturally more likely to recharge by spending time alone or being around other people? Why?
- What’s something someone else is really good at that you appreciate but have absolutely no desire to learn yourself?
- When you hear the word overflow, what picture or idea immediately comes to mind?
Discussion Questions
- Pastor Shelly said, “Overflow does not begin with giving. It begins with abiding.” What does abiding in Jesus practically look like in your everyday life?
- How can someone remain very active in church or ministry while gradually becoming disconnected from Jesus? What warning signs might reveal that this is happening?
- The message says, “We cannot give what we have stopped receiving.” Is there something from God—His peace, love, grace, strength, or something else—that you have been trying to give others without intentionally receiving it yourself?
- Pastor Shelly taught that comparison causes us to mistake difference for deficiency. Where are you most tempted to compare yourself with others? How could recognizing God’s intentional placement of each member change that?
- Independence can sometimes look like strength while actually being rooted in hurt, disappointment, fear, control, or self-protection. Is it easier for you to receive help or give help? Why?
- Pastor Shelly said the opposite of isolation is not simply attendance or involvement—it is love. What would it look like for our relationships within the church to move beyond being present together into genuinely caring for one another?
- God restores His life in us so that it can move beyond us into a hurting world. Who in your everyday life may need to encounter the peace, love, healing, or hope of Jesus through you right now? What could it look like to make yourself available to God this week?
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You that You are the Source of everything we need. Forgive us for the times we have tried to produce through our own strength what can only come from You.
Teach us to abide in Jesus, to continually receive Your love, peace, grace, healing, and strength, and to allow Your life to flow freely through us.
Expose the places where comparison has convinced us that we do not belong and where independence has convinced us that we do not need others. Heal the wounds that have caused us to isolate, protect ourselves, or remain guarded. Teach us to love one another as one body and to receive the people You have placed around us.
Make us a people through whom hurting people can encounter Jesus. Let Your life flow through ordinary, surrendered people so that broken hearts find healing, captives find freedom, fearful hearts find peace, and people are drawn to You.
May everything You do in us and through us bring glory to the Father.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
