Pastor Liz Jones teaches from Genesis 49 that Joseph was a fruitful branch by a well whose branches grew over the wall.
Rather than fighting every limitation, God sometimes allows walls to remain while He develops greater fruitfulness within us. As we remain planted in Christ and yield to the Holy Spirit, His nature—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—matures within us.
The fruit of the Spirit is not another religious standard demanding that we try harder. It is the fruit of freedom, produced by the Holy Spirit as we surrender to His work.
The Church must also learn to distinguish between gifts and fruit. Gifts are valuable, but the evidence of the life of God is not merely someone’s gifting—it is their fruit.

It’s all yours.

I’ll just say yes and amen to that. We’re so incredibly grateful for pastor Bob, for all that he has done and for all that he will do.
01:24:31:19 – 01:24:50:13
Unknown
Yeah, yeah.
01:24:50:13 – 01:25:18:11

We love you. Our team loves you. You know, I was thinking about all that’s all that’s happening and all the possibilities in front of us and particularly with us. Spirit school of ministry. I was just thinking about all that has changed and developed through the past decade, really, with the school and, and all that has transparent and all the students have gone through and all of the things that have been accomplished and the Lord has done.
01:25:18:16 – 01:25:45:08
Unknown
But I was thinking, really, for me, the greatest thing I think that I’ve learned and that I’ve seen and experienced is really our team and how pastor Bob has, led us as a team to be a team that really loves and trust each other and knows how to honor each other and prefer one another. And I think it’s been one of the greatest lessons of my life, actually, is seeing him lead us as a father.
01:25:45:10 – 01:26:11:00
Unknown
And so it’s a little bit in line of what I’m going to speak about today. Because there’s a lot of things that we can do for God. But, the heart of the father is really for us to become more like him. And that’s and that’s why I’m saying, for me, that’s one of the greatest things that I’ve experienced in this school is starting with our team, learning how to love each other.
01:26:11:02 – 01:26:35:04

But I believe that that culture, trickles down into every part of the school where the the point is not just to be academically gifted or scripturally knowledgeable, but actually to be a disciple who’s on a journey to become more like Christ. And that, for us, is the most important thing. You know, we have a lot of people who have academic challenges, and it’s not a problem at all.
01:26:35:04 – 01:27:00:19
Unknown
We’re not looking for scholars. We’re not looking for people who can write essays. We’re looking for people whose lives are full of hunger for the truth and who have a desire to really know Jesus, and that’s it. And that we’re walking together at all different levels of experience and understandings and knowledge and abilities. But it’s the body of Christ in pursuit of the Lord.
01:27:00:23 – 01:27:22:04
Unknown
And, so that’s a little bit about our school. I also want to let you know that we have changed the format of our school a bit, where we used to just have one enrollment date in September, and you either could get on, get in, or you missed it. For the year we’ve made it. We’ve restructured so that you can join a different points during the year.
01:27:22:06 – 01:27:40:01
Unknown
So if you miss the September sign up, we have another one coming up in January. And you get to on board and you get to join what’s happening. And so we’re trying to make it very accessible and very flexible for your lifestyle. You can sign up for a ten week period and then you can decide if you’re going to continue or not.
01:27:40:01 – 01:28:01:27
Unknown
But we really want it to be something we’re trying to remove all barriers to being part of this discipleship, journey. So, just wanted to let you guys know we do have another enrollment coming up in January. And if you have any questions, you can see me. You can see pastor Bob, because I’m leaving tomorrow. Jerry by David, Athena Rose, panel, any of our team.
01:28:01:27 – 01:28:26:08

But we would really just love for you to come be part, it’s wonderful to be part of a local church and to be pursuing God together, and that’s so essential. But there is a deeper walk that we can enter into when we really decide to step into discipleship and to bring our lives under accountability to other people, which sometimes is a scary thing, but it actually brings out the greatness in us.
01:28:26:12 – 01:28:48:22
Unknown
And that’s what we love to see, is the greatness in each one of our students begin to blossom and be revealed, and it’s the life of Christ in you, the hope of glory that begins to be revealed. So a little bit about who we are and where we’re going. It’s such an honor for me always to be able to stand before you and to bring the word of the Lord.
01:28:48:22 – 01:29:13:15
Unknown
And I just love this place and I’m thankful. Thank you, pastors, for the opportunity. Yeah. There’s so much in my heart. We’ll see what. We’ll see what comes out, and we’ll see how it comes out and how many tears it takes to get it out. But I want to speak to you a little bit. This is a message that, I can’t seem to get away from in this time, and it comes out in different flavors, in different ways.
01:29:13:15 – 01:29:50:21
Unknown
But when Apostle Les was speaking last week about rooted and reaching, I knew this was the next word that was coming. And it’s out of Genesis 49, verses 22 through 24. It says that Joseph is a fruitful bow, a fruitful bow by a well. His branches run over the wall. The archers have bitterly grieved him, shot at him, and hated him, but his bow remained in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob.
01:29:50:23 – 01:30:21:09
Unknown
From there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel. So I wanted to speak to you a little bit from these verses. I believe the Lord has some things to say to us all today, but this is referring to Joseph, the son of Jacob, who was a man who was a he was a dreamer. The Lord has a spoken to him from a young age about the possibility of of his life, the promises of his life.
01:30:21:12 – 01:30:47:22
Unknown
And if you are familiar with the story at all, you understand that when the dream came, he entered into a time of great challenge, great impossibility, and he was passed from place to place, first sold into slavery, then into prison, then ultimately to the palace of Pharaoh, where he became basically a rescuer of the the nation. And it’s interesting.
01:30:47:27 – 01:31:12:14
Unknown
This is a blessing that his father is declaring over him, and I think it holds special significance for this house. We’ve been called a house of Joseph, and we’ve experienced a lot of the same journey of great possibilities to being sold into slavery by brothers and entering into a prison time. But ultimately, the plans of the Lord endure, and the Lord is faithful from generation to generation.
01:31:12:19 – 01:31:27:22
Unknown
But it’s interesting, I think this verse, that Joseph was a fruitful branch, and Joseph was a man who was fruitful wherever he was.
01:31:27:24 – 01:31:34:20
Unknown
Every place that tried to contain him, he outgrew.
01:31:34:23 – 01:32:01:24
Unknown
Every place where he was limited, where he was restricted by others. Eventually they became they came to see not just the giftedness of his life, but the fruitfulness of his life. And they began to desire that, to bring that into their world, to bring that fruitfulness into their sphere. And so they gave him positions of access and authority.
01:32:01:27 – 01:32:29:27
Unknown
And I think it’s so significant that it was not the strength of of Joseph that allowed him to go beyond these places of restriction. It was not the giftedness of Joseph that allowed him to go, go beyond walls and go beyond borders. It was the fruitfulness of Joseph that allowed him and took him up over the walls, over the closed in places, over the boundaries and the limitations.
01:32:30:00 – 01:32:56:05
Unknown
It was his fruitfulness. And I was thinking, sometimes I think in our perspective of life and our perspective of how Christianity works, when we come up to a place that seems like a wall, a barrier in front of us, a restriction or a limitation, we try to muster up our power. Yeah, like our spiritual power. Like this wall has to come down.
01:32:56:10 – 01:33:19:15
Unknown
It must. You guys know we’re all Christians. We all know the the way things go. This like we God’s a way maker. He’s going to break through. Yes. And he is. He is all those things. He’s the one who brings walls down. But what I believe is that there are times this is going to be a key for us, especially when it seems like we’re coming against this wall.
01:33:19:15 – 01:33:41:09
Unknown
We’re believing in the walls just standing there. It’s not coming down, it’s not breaking, no doors opening up in front of us, and we’re like, oh, the power of God breaks through this wall. And we’re like spiritually just ramming against this wall again and again and again. Because I believe there are times when we are not meant to break the wall.
01:33:41:12 – 01:33:47:19
Unknown
We are meant to grow up over it.
01:33:47:21 – 01:34:18:29
Unknown
This is a really important thing for us to understand. See, I believe that the Lord actually allows some barriers and some places of opposition to remain in our lives, not because he’s not willing to break through them for us, but because it’s better for us to learn how to be planted by a well and draw from the life that we’re rooted in and begin to become fruitful, and to grow up over that place.
01:34:19:01 – 01:34:45:04
Unknown
I believe that many times it is actually the goodness of the Lord that he allows certain things that seem like obstacles and seem like restrictions, because he doesn’t just want to be the one who is always breaking through for us and and keeping us in a weak, small place, but he actually wants us to develop and grow and become fruitful so that there is nothing that can contain us anymore.
01:34:45:06 – 01:34:51:28
Unknown
Joseph is a fruitful bow whose branches grow up over the wall.
01:34:52:00 – 01:35:29:04
Unknown
Yeah, we’re talking about fruitfulness. I want to spend a little bit of time talking about the fruit of the spirit. And we’re going to go. We’re going to go somewhere. So I want to read Galatians 516 through 23. And this is Paul writing, writing to the legalistic Galatians. He says, I say, then walk in the spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh for the flesh less against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh.
01:35:29:06 – 01:36:11:10
Unknown
And these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things you wish. But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousy, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murder, drunkenness, reveries, and the like of which I tell you before hand, just as I told you in times past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
01:36:11:12 – 01:36:30:16
Unknown
But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And against such there is no law.
01:36:30:19 – 01:36:48:10
Unknown
Don’t you love how God lists things out for us so that we can understand what he’s really talking about? This is one of the things I love about God so much. He doesn’t hold anything back. He just tells it like it is, and you can decide if you agree with it or not. But I love that he doesn’t pull any punches.
01:36:48:10 – 01:37:20:18
Unknown
He just says this is what it is. Just so we’re clear against these things, the fruit of the spirit. There is no law. What is a law? A law is a rule or a decree that intends to restrict people into certain ways of behaving and living. We agree with that. Okay. It is a legal boundary of what is appropriate and what is acceptable.
01:37:20:21 – 01:37:55:02
Unknown
But there is no law that can contain the fruit of the spirit. There is no restriction that can contain the fruit of the spirit. There is no limitation that can contain and restrict the fruit of the spirit. People of God, I want you to hear this in every place in your life where the enemy would try to put restrictions, or where people would try to put limitations.
01:37:55:03 – 01:38:19:25
Unknown
There is nothing that can contain and hold in the fruit of the spirit the word. There is no law, there is no boundary, there is nothing that can resist it. And when there is a wall, fruit grows up and grows over the wall. This is good news for us because I believe we’re always there’s always a voice that is trying to limit.
01:38:19:25 – 01:38:43:24
Unknown
There’s always a voice that is trying to restrict. There’s always something that is trying to get us to be contained into a certain place, whether it’s fear or insecurity or other people’s perceptions of us, or what we think is possible, or what we think is reasonable, and we can try to combat these things with our own thoughts, we can try to combat these things with logical arguments.
01:38:43:27 – 01:39:21:05
Unknown
We can try to deal with these limitations that really are limitations in our soul. We can try to deal with them in all sorts of different ways. But what I’m here to tell you today is that if we will be planted, rooted by the wellspring of life, and allow ourselves to remain in that place and draw up from within that place life and become fruitful, there is no thing on this earth that can contain you.
01:39:21:07 – 01:39:28:15
Unknown
Are we are we good? Okay.
01:39:28:18 – 01:39:52:06
Unknown
If we are abiding in him, we will produce his fruit. I want to talk a little bit here about the difference between fruit and gifts. I believe that there is a there is a great emphasis, a lot on the gifts of the spirit. And are we thankful for the gifts of the spirit? Yes, we love them. We love prophecy.
01:39:52:07 – 01:40:15:23
Unknown
We love word of knowledge. We love power. We love healing. We love all the things that the Holy Spirit does through us. But there is a distinction between the gifts of the spirit and the fruit of the spirit. Gifts are given, fruit is grown, gifts are given, fruit is grown. The evidence. This is going to be really important.
01:40:15:23 – 01:40:25:25
Unknown
The evidence of someone’s connection with God is not their gift, it is their fruit.
01:40:25:28 – 01:40:55:05
Unknown
The evidence of the life of God in you is not operating in a gift. It is the fruitfulness of the nature of God in your life. Gifts may fool people, but fruitfulness never lies. When you eat a piece of fruit, you know if it’s good or bad. No one has to tell you. No one has to say, will.
01:40:55:05 – 01:41:51:03
Unknown
It really looks good. I know it tastes bad, but it’s really good. See how beautiful it is? You know, when you eat it? No. This apple looks good, but it is rotten. Gifts may fool people, but fruit never lies. This is. I believe this is a very critical thing for the church to remember. Because there’s there’s so much happening, let’s say, in the world of Christianity with gifted individuals and what has happened and especially in our culture of online, online eating, you know, an online influence and online accessibility and all of these things is that we are constantly exposed to the gifts of people, but we are completely overlooking whether or not there
01:41:51:03 – 01:42:18:02
Unknown
is fruit. And I believe that many times we are eating something that seems good because the gift seems good, but we don’t understand that we are eating from a tree that is not producing good fruit. And this is really important for the church. We have got to be discerns not of gifts but of fruit. And I’m going to tell you, it’s pretty hard to discern someone’s fruit if you are not walking in relationship with them.
01:42:18:04 – 01:42:39:11
Unknown
Okay, this is why local church matters. This is why it matters who we bring into our lives, who would be bringing to our pulpit, and who we bring into the platform of our life. Because someone may be operating in a gift, because the gifts of God are without repentance, and he anoints gifts for the sake of the people.
01:42:39:13 – 01:43:07:28
Unknown
But we must be discerned of the fruit of people’s lives, or we will be ingesting things that are not going to produce the life of God in us. Is this all right that we have to be discerned? This is something that I believe the church worldwide has to begin to embrace again. Being discerns, and you cannot discern the fruit of someone’s life if you are not walking with them.
01:43:07:28 – 01:43:31:10
Unknown
I’m thankful for online availability of things, but what I’m saying is that when we are determining what we’re going to allow into our lives, or what we are going to base our beliefs on, it should be on people that are proven. Okay, that didn’t go very well.
01:43:31:13 – 01:44:09:12
Unknown
There are thousands of Christians who have been shipwrecked because they put their trust in somebody, and they didn’t know their fruit. They only knew their gift. Let me read you Matthew 17 verses 15 through 20. This is Jesus. We all love Jesus. We all agree with the words of Jesus. Listen to what he says. Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
01:44:09:14 – 01:44:17:07
Unknown
You will recognize them by their. Their what?
01:44:17:09 – 01:44:24:02
Unknown
That this is not the right verse.
01:44:24:04 – 01:44:30:28
Unknown
You guys are discerning that. Okay?
01:44:31:00 – 01:44:54:23
Unknown
Okay, we’ll take that one down and just listen to what I’m saying. I don’t know what I, I’m, I’m sure I mix it up. Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes or figs from thistles. So every healthy tree bears good fruit.
01:44:54:26 – 01:45:24:18
Unknown
But the disease tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. Jesus is talking about prophets in this scripture. People with gifts. He’s saying, don’t be deceived by the gift.
01:45:24:20 – 01:45:49:19
Unknown
Taste the fruit. Test the fruit. People of God. This has been a thing since the very beginning. I don’t know exactly why this is so strong on me right now, but this is something I can’t get away from. The church must be able to recognize good fruit from bad fruit. I believe we are coming into a time where this is going to become more critical than it is, even right now.
01:45:49:22 – 01:46:11:13
Unknown
I believe that there are going to be things that come into the world that are can easily deceive people who are not tapped into the discernment of the Holy Spirit. And there’s there’s so much stuff. You guys know, there’s so much stuff that we can partake of and we can really buy into. But this is why God gave the local church.
01:46:11:15 – 01:46:33:14
Unknown
This is why God gave shepherds. This is why God gave pastors and apostles and teachers and prophets and those that are submitted in real life to one another, not to an online community in real life where you’re walking out life with one another and you and I can’t hide my fruit because it’s right in front of you. I can’t choose this piece looks pretty good.
01:46:33:14 – 01:47:01:12
Unknown
Let me put this online. This is why this matters. This is why it matters that we actually know each other and that our lives are open to one another. So this has been a problem since the very beginning. This is the word of Jesus. Gifts are wonderful but test by the fruit. Okay. All right.
01:47:01:15 – 01:47:24:24
Unknown
I think sometimes when we talk about the fruit of the spirit. That we view them, like, more, standards I need to live up to, which is really more laws, right? I should be more loving. I should be more patient. I should be more kind. I should be more gentle. Yes. I’m saying this to me. Yes, Liz. You should.
01:47:24:26 – 01:47:49:14
Unknown
More loving, more kind, more patient, more gentle, more long suffering, more peaceful, more formal, more full of joy. All of these things, more rules, more expectations, more things that I can’t attain to. I know I should be fruitful, but I just can’t seem to get there. I know I should have peace, but it always seems to escape me.
01:47:49:15 – 01:47:57:20
Unknown
I know I should love people, but they drive me crazy.
01:47:57:23 – 01:48:03:14
Unknown
But I want, I want to change the perspective a little bit.
01:48:03:17 – 01:48:12:24
Unknown
That the fruit of the spirit is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, who is the spirit of freedom.
01:48:12:26 – 01:48:33:10
Unknown
He is the spirit of freedom. Yet where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the fruit of freedom. I want can we just talk through these different fruit just for a minute here and explore it from a little bit of a different perspective?
01:48:33:12 – 01:48:46:06
Unknown
Okay. Love the evidence of the life of God in you is the love of God in you. And love is freedom.
01:48:46:08 – 01:49:14:16
Unknown
Love is freedom. Love is freedom from hatred. It’s freedom from bitterness. It’s freedom from selfishness. It’s freedom from all the things that would try to hold us in a dark and isolated place. I want us to change our perspective a little bit from something that I have to try to attain to. To something that the Holy Spirit works in me to bring me into a free place.
01:49:14:18 – 01:49:36:15
Unknown
It’s his work. Romans tells us that the Holy Spirit is the one who sheds the love of God abroad in our hearts. In other words, you are not the source. This is good news for you, and it’s good news for me. We are not the source of love, and it’s the work of the Holy Spirit in us. But I want you to hear it again and again.
01:49:36:17 – 01:50:08:24
Unknown
It is not to try to force you into some level and standard that we have a religious expectation of. It is actually to make us the most free people on earth. Joy. Joy is more than an emotion. It is a characteristic of who God is. God is the most joyful being you will ever meet. If you haven’t experienced him that way, I pray that you have a revelation of the joyfulness of God.
01:50:08:26 – 01:50:34:06
Unknown
Because if we are not living a life of joy as we follow Christ, something is wrong. It doesn’t mean that we’re happy all the time, but joy is the hope and the expectation of triumph. That’s how we can live in joy because we know her. We were walking with a joy has to do with hope. Romans 1513 says, Now the God of hope fill you with joy.
01:50:34:08 – 01:51:04:17
Unknown
If you have hope, you can have joy. Joy is freedom. Joy is freedom. It’s freedom from heaviness. It’s freedom from anxiety. It’s freedom from depression. It’s freedom from the being a slave to the circumstances of our life. See, the fruit of the spirit is the fruit of freedom. This is God’s desire for his people to live a life as free people in the earth.
01:51:04:18 – 01:51:33:27
Unknown
Now joy is based in eternal perspective. It sets us free from the temporary conditions that sometimes try to take hold of us and try to become a master to us. Joy is freedom from that peace. The Lord is a peacemaker and he names himself the Lord of peace. Jehovah Shalom and peace is a state of wholeness, which means my soul is not fractured or divided.
01:51:33:29 – 01:51:58:00
Unknown
It is living a whole and healed life. This is God’s desire for his people, and peace is what is developed in us as we abide in the spirit. Colossians 315 says, let the peace of God rule in your heart. The peace of God has to do with the authority of God. It is the understanding that God is the ultimate authority in my life.
01:51:58:04 – 01:52:20:16
Unknown
And so when other things would try to take dominion over me, it’s peace that rules me. It’s peace that rules my heart. See, peace is freedom from fear. Peace is freedom from a divided mind. I’m here part of the time. And I’m here part of the time. I’m in faith and I’m in fear. I’m in hope and I’m in worry.
01:52:20:18 – 01:52:38:16
Unknown
Peace is freedom from all of that. And it’s the work of the Holy Spirit. If you have a voice in you right now telling you you need to try harder to produce peace, you need. If you could just get your act together, you would be more joyful. If you could just get your stuff together, you would be more peaceful.
01:52:38:17 – 01:53:08:01
Unknown
That is not the voice of the Lord. Did you hear that? This is the work of the Holy Spirit. We cannot do this. You cannot produce peace in your life. Only the Holy Spirit can. And so it comes from choosing to step into that place with him. Alright, Holy Spirit, I’m here again. I yield to you again, and we’re praying in the spirit and letting him produce the life of God in us in a way that only he can.
01:53:08:04 – 01:53:40:14
Unknown
It’s about surrender to his work. This is not a message of try harder, be better. When I say Joseph is a fruitful bow that grows up over the wall, it is about the growth that happens from the inside and is manifest to the outside. It’s about becoming free. Goodness. Goodness is righteousness in action. It is about upright being upright in heart and behavior, not just behaving better.
01:53:40:16 – 01:54:02:19
Unknown
It is about the goodness that is on the inside of you, being reflected in all that you do. It’s internally motivated but has external fruit. Goodness is freedom from a life that looks good on the outside, but on the inside is full of decay.

Self-control. This is a good one. We love this one.
01:54:10:12 – 01:54:39:23
Unknown
Self-control only happens when we yield to the Holy Spirit, and it’s freedom. Self-control is freedom because we are controlled by him and no other. Are we okay? A couple more. You guys with me still okay? Long suffering. We love this one. It doesn’t mean that we suffer for a long time.
01:54:39:25 – 01:55:02:04
Unknown
Okay? It means. Let me explain it this way. You know, when someone is short tempered and everything sets them off like that. You have anyone in your life like that? Maybe you’re that person. Everything sets them off. They respond to everything. One thing triggers them. They. They come back with even more. Short tempered, long suffering is the opposite of that.
01:55:02:04 – 01:55:29:02
Unknown
It’s being long tempered. Like, you can throw your ugliness at me. And I do not have to respond to you in the same way because it’s not who I am. It’s being able to endure with somebody, understanding that they are in their process, and that what they are doing and all the turmoil that’s in their life and all the things that they might spew unto you.
01:55:29:04 – 01:55:58:14
Unknown
It does not have to determine how you live. You can hold. You can hold yourself and you can walk through anything with them, understanding that they are in a process of redemption and that you know who you are enough to be able to contain yourself, love them, and not return hatred for hatred. This is a gift and the this is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in us.
01:55:58:17 – 01:56:08:24
Unknown
You know that God is long suffering all of this fruit. It’s his nature in us.
01:56:08:26 – 01:56:34:14
Unknown
Second Peter three says the Lord isn’t really being slow about his promises as some people think. No, he is being it says patient. But it’s this word long suffering for your sake. In other words, he understands that we are still in process and he’s bearing with us, and he’s giving us time, and he’s being kind and good to us as he waits for us to be fully redeemed.
01:56:34:17 – 01:57:10:04
Unknown
This is who we are. This is not something we are trying to become. Listen, if you’ve been born again, this is already in you. Say that again. If you’ve been born again, this is already in you. And it’s the work of the Holy Spirit, not your work. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to cultivate this and to mature it, and to water it, and to nourish it and to grow it into a place where what is on the inside of you begins to become manifest to those around you.
01:57:10:06 – 01:57:37:19
Unknown
This is not a message. I’m going to keep saying it again. This is not a message of try harder. This is a message of freedom of the Holy Spirit working in us to do what we cannot do, so that the life of God that is born again inside of us begins to be revealed to the world. This is what the word says when it says that the world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God.
01:57:37:21 – 01:57:53:00
Unknown
In other words, you already are. But there is a work of the Holy Spirit that begins to mature what’s in you, so that it comes out in fruitfulness and nothing will be able to contain you in that place.
01:57:53:03 – 01:58:14:15

Okay, one more gentleness. This is an interesting word. The word in Greek is not is not gentle in the way that we think of gentle. We think of gentle as like soft. You know, I think of that way like someone who’s gentle. They’re soft. They have a soft touch, they have a soft voice. They just don’t really move things too much.
01:58:14:15 – 01:58:25:11
Unknown
They just lightly, you know, touch things. And they’re very gentle, which I’m like, there’s no hope for me if that’s what this is.
01:58:25:14 – 01:59:00:01
Unknown
This word gentleness. It actually comes from this Greek word, Christos, which means usefulness. What it is, it is someone who has the nature, where they are useful to the Lord. Because this other word, they are easily employed. In other words, they can work with anybody. There’s such a a nature of God in them that no matter who they encounter, they don’t have some standard.
01:59:00:01 – 01:59:24:02
Unknown
People have to come up to you before they can work with them. They can work with anybody. They can understand where someone is. Maybe they’re not. Maybe they’re more they’re young in the faith or they’re immature, or maybe they’ve been in some challenges and all of those things, they can take that person go, it’s okay, I can we can work together and I can walk with you and we can walk together and we can allow the Lord to work with us together.
01:59:24:05 – 01:59:47:02
Unknown
This is what this word is easily employed. This is a person who is useful to God, not because they have great gifts and great abilities, but because they can bear with their brother or sister and be kind and be gentle to them in that way to say, it’s alright, I know you’re in process, so am I. Let’s walk this out together.
01:59:47:04 – 02:00:02:13
Unknown
See, this is the quality of God. The. The God is the only one who is actually perfect and can do everything right. And he says, I can work with you, even Liz. I can work with her.
02:00:02:15 – 02:00:27:10

What a good father we have. Do you understand? That place is such a place of freedom. Wherever you are in your life, you understand that God is the one who is doing the work. He works in you, and he works in me. And he can use all of us together. He is not limited by our disabilities. He is not limited by our weaknesses.
02:00:27:12 – 02:01:07:05
Unknown
He is not limited by our insecurities or lack of experience or lack of scriptural knowledge. He can work with anybody. And this is the work of the Holy Spirit in us. This is what it means to be a fruitful person and to be a person who is completely free. We’re free when the Holy Spirit is free to do his work in us, and to develop in us the nature of our father into a mature place, where then it begins to overflow out of our life.
02:01:07:08 – 02:01:32:19

Think back to this scripture about Joseph, this fruitful I love, that says he was planted by a well, and that as he was growing, there was an enemy who was fierce against him, who shot at him, who was bitter against him. But what does it say?
02:01:32:21 – 02:01:55:10
Unknown
Says. Let me go back here. The archers have bitterly grieved him, shot at him, and hated him, but his bow remained in strength, and that the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Israel. See, as you’re growing.
02:01:55:12 – 02:02:25:15

It’s not always an easy place, but the Lord is always there to uphold you, and to strengthen you, and to keep you, and to allow you in that place to continue to flourish until the place that tried to limit you is now no longer a barrier to you anymore. Have you experienced this in your life? Things that were a barrier to you, that were a wall and that time seems so big.
02:02:25:17 – 02:02:38:25
Unknown
And as you just continued in the Lord, now those things like you can easily step over them. You know, that’s the work of the Holy Spirit. That’s what we’re talking about here.
02:02:38:27 – 02:03:03:08
Unknown
In every place. Joseph continued to grow in fruitfulness. And what I believe I’m just I’m coming to a close here, but all of the gifts of God, we’re thankful for the gifts. And this is not to minimize them at all, but all of the gifts are given in order to produce fruit. The point is not to operate in the power and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
02:03:03:08 – 02:03:23:28
Unknown
The point is actually to allow the fruit of the spirit to be developed in you, because it is the nature of Christ. The point is for a people to be conformed to the image of Christ walking around on the earth, and gifts are wonderful. They’re given by the Lord. We love prophecy, we love healing, we love anointed teaching.
02:03:23:28 – 02:03:33:25
Unknown
We love all of these things. Apostolic people. We love the gifts of God. But the point is not to be a gifted person.
02:03:33:28 – 02:03:51:14
Unknown
It’s point. It’s not to be a gifted person. The point is to be a person who is overflowing with the fruit of freedom. And I want to say this to you. The fruit is not for the tree.
02:03:51:16 – 02:04:19:08
Unknown
The fruit is for the hungry people. And this is what I believe that the Lord is doing in in his church across the world. But in this House specifically, that there is has been this maturing, and there is time that we are seeing that the the we’ve had boughs going, but there’s more fruitfulness that is coming in all the places that tried to contain and all the places that try to, to limit.
02:04:19:08 – 02:04:45:13
Unknown
And I’m speaking this corporately, but also individually. It is not a time to try to fight against limitations. It is a time to not worry about the wall and to grow into fruitfulness, because there is a world that is hungry not for gifted things they’ve had, they’ve seen that, and they’ve seen the corruption of gifts, and they’ve seen the failing of gifts.
02:04:45:15 – 02:05:19:24
Unknown
What they are hungry for is genuine fruit, genuine love, genuine peace that seems so hard to find, genuine joy, genuine ability to bear and be patient with one another. Do you hear what I’m saying? This is the time that we are in, and it is the work of the Holy Spirit in us to develop us into people who walk around on this earth like fruitful trees, and understand that nothing can contain you.
02:05:19:25 – 02:05:37:23
Unknown
There is no law that can be made against love. With all the laws that come that are coming. There is no law against peace. I mean the fruit of peace.
02:05:37:26 – 02:05:47:10

This is the time that we’re in to be discerns a fruit, to not get caught up in gifts, but to allow the Holy Spirit to do his work in us and to make us the most free people that are walking around on this planet, and that as we live and as we are planted and as we grow and as we just yield to his work in our life, that he will produce in us the things that will feed a hungry world, and they will see this is not just religion.
02:06:23:06 – 02:07:00:26

This is not just a people that does good social programs, that there is actually something that like heaven actually comes to earth and they can experience eternity before they get there. This is our honor and this is our privilege. Will you stand with me?
02:07:00:28 – 02:07:27:25
Unknown
The gifts of God are designated by the Holy Spirit as he desires, and so not every person has all of the gifts. That’s God’s plan. But every single person has the nature of Christ available to them. And every single believer is designed to live in the freedom and the fruitfulness of the Holy Spirit.
02:07:27:27 – 02:08:01:17

So, father, I bless this house. I bless them corporately and as individuals. Lord. And we declare God that, like Joseph, this is a fruitful bow that is growing up over the wall. And father, we thank you, Lord, that it is your plan to bring fruitfulness in many places. Lord God, to feed a hungry people, but also, Lord, that the fruit is what contains the seeds for reproduction.

Unknown
And Lord, we declare that this is a great time of reproduction for this place, for this people, and for your people in the world, that as fruit is born, Lord, that it goes into the lives of many, but also, Lord, that it contains in it the life of God to be reproduced in in authenticity, in genuineness that the fruit of the Holy Spirit will be made, plentiful in the people of God.

Father, I pray today that there would be a revelation of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, that this is not something that we are striving to become, but, Lord, that your nature in us is already resident and that you are maturing it, and that there will be a manifestation of the sons of God in the earth.
02:08:52:20 – 02:09:09:27

And I thank you, Lord, that you are building your church not just to be a building, but to be a person, to be the person of Jesus Christ, walking around and manifest and reproduced in the earth now.

This is your purpose, and it’s definitely your way. And your ways are so much greater and so much higher than ours, Lord. And today, God, we yield to you, we yield to your way, and we yield to you, Holy Spirit, all let the fruit of freedom be manifest in our lives.

But we’re trusting the Lord. There are some things that seem like impossibilities, but it’s a good father that we have. And if he takes care of the sparrows, he takes care of us. So I just wanted to ask you to continue to be praying for us. There’s some great, beautiful things happening. Challenges. Challenges, for sure. But the Lord is faithful.

Fruit That Grows Over the Wall
Pastor Liz Jones
There are moments in life when we come up against something that feels immovable. It may be a limitation, a restriction, a closed door, or a circumstance we have prayed over again and again. Our instinct is often to believe that if God is with us, then the wall must come down.
Sometimes it does.
But Pastor Liz Jones brought a different perspective from the life of Joseph: there are times when we are not meant to break the wall—we are meant to grow over it.
Genesis 49 describes Joseph as “a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well; his branches run over the wall.” Joseph’s life was filled with places that should have contained him. He was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, imprisoned, and repeatedly restricted by circumstances outside of his control. Yet wherever Joseph was planted, he continued to become fruitful.
Every place that tried to contain him eventually became too small for what God was developing in him.
Fruitfulness Goes Where Giftedness Cannot
Joseph was undeniably gifted. God had given him dreams, wisdom, discernment, and leadership ability. But Pastor Liz pointed out that it was not simply Joseph’s giftedness that carried him beyond his limitations, it was his fruitfulness.
The people around Joseph began to recognize that something about his life brought health, order, and increase into the environments he entered. Eventually, those who had authority over him wanted that fruitfulness working within their own sphere, and Joseph was given increasing access and responsibility.
This gives us a different way to think about the walls in our lives. Sometimes we encounter an obstacle and immediately try to summon enough spiritual strength to force our way through it. We pray harder, push harder, and declare that the wall has to fall. God certainly is a God of breakthrough, and there are walls that He does tear down. But there are also moments when the wall remains because God is doing something deeper in us.
Instead of simply removing the obstacle, He teaches us how to become fruitful in the middle of it.
Pastor Liz said that some barriers are allowed to remain because it is better for us to learn how to be planted by the well, draw from the life we are rooted in, and become so fruitful that eventually the limitation no longer has the ability to contain us.
Sometimes the Wall Is Part of the Growth
There are circumstances we would remove immediately if we had the ability. There are restrictions we would gladly eliminate. But sometimes the goodness of God is not seen in instantly changing the situation around us. Sometimes His goodness is seen in changing what is happening within us.
If every obstacle disappeared the moment we encountered it, we could remain spiritually weak while continually depending on God to change our circumstances. Instead, there are seasons when He grows strength in us. He develops endurance, love, peace, patience, courage, and maturity. He teaches us how to remain rooted when things are not moving the way we expected.
Eventually, we look back at something that once seemed enormous and realize it no longer has the same power over us.
The wall may still exist, but we have grown.
That is what happened in Joseph. The environments did not immediately become easier, but Joseph continued to flourish until the places that once restricted him could no longer define him.
There Is No Law Against the Fruit of the Spirit
Pastor Liz then moved into Galatians 5, where Paul contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit. He writes that the fruit of the Spirit is “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control,” and then adds the remarkable statement, “Against such there is no law.”
A law establishes boundaries. It creates limits. It determines what is allowed and what is restricted.
But there is no boundary capable of containing the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
There is no law that can stop genuine love. There is no circumstance that can imprison the peace of God. There is no human opinion that can ultimately restrict the joy, kindness, faithfulness, or goodness that the Holy Spirit produces in a surrendered life.
That means fruitfulness carries a kind of freedom that external circumstances cannot control.
There will always be voices trying to tell us what we cannot become. Fear can limit us. Insecurity can limit us. The opinions of people can limit us. Even our own understanding of what seems possible or reasonable can become a wall.
But when we remain planted in the life of Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to produce His nature within us, there is no external limitation strong enough to stop that life from continuing to grow.
Fruit will find its way over the wall.
Gifts Are Given, but Fruit Is Grown
The Church rightly celebrates the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We value prophecy, healing, words of knowledge, teaching, miracles, and the many ways the Spirit works through His people.
But Pastor Liz made an important distinction: gifts are given, while fruit is grown.
A spiritual gift is not the ultimate evidence of someone’s maturity or closeness with God. Fruit is.
A person can operate powerfully in a gift and still have areas of serious immaturity in their character. That is why Jesus never taught His followers to recognize people primarily by how impressive their gifting was. He said, “You will know them by their fruits.”
Pastor Liz put it simply: “Gifts may fool people, but fruitfulness never lies.”
Fruit tells you what kind of tree you are dealing with. Something may look beautiful from a distance, but once you actually taste the fruit, you discover what is really growing inside.
This is especially important in a culture where we constantly encounter people through online platforms. We may have access to someone’s teaching, preaching, prophetic gift, or influence without ever having access to the actual fruit of their life.
We see the gift, but we do not always see the relationships. We do not see how they respond to correction, how they treat people, how they handle disappointment, or whether the character of Christ is present in the way they live.
This is why discernment matters.
Why Real Relationship Still Matters
Pastor Liz connected this directly to the importance of local church and real relationship.
There is tremendous value in online teaching and access to ministries around the world. But there is a difference between seeing someone’s gift and actually knowing the fruit of their life.
Fruit becomes visible when people walk together.
It is seen in relationship, accountability, humility, conflict, forgiveness, faithfulness, and ordinary daily life. That is one reason God places us in community. We need people who actually know us, and we need to know the people who influence us.
Jesus warned about false prophets who could appear one way outwardly while carrying something very different internally. His answer was not fear or suspicion. His answer was discernment: look at the fruit.
The Church must become mature enough to celebrate genuine gifting without being blinded by it.
The Fruit of the Spirit Is the Fruit of Freedom
One of the strongest shifts in Pastor Liz’s message came when she challenged the way we often think about the fruit of the Spirit.
Many believers read Galatians 5 like another list of standards they are failing to meet. I should be more loving. I should have more peace. I should be more patient. I should have more self-control. I should be more joyful.
Before long, the fruit of the Spirit becomes another law. Another expectation. Another reason to feel inadequate.
But Pastor Liz reframed it completely: the fruit of the Spirit is the fruit of freedom.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of freedom, so what He produces within us leads us increasingly into freedom.
Love is freedom from hatred, bitterness, selfishness, and isolation. Joy is freedom from being ruled by temporary circumstances. Peace is freedom from fear and a divided mind. Self-control is freedom from being controlled by anything other than God. Longsuffering is freedom from allowing another person’s immaturity to dictate the way we respond.
This changes the entire picture.
The fruit of the Spirit is not God demanding that we somehow force ourselves into better behavior. It is God working inside us to make us free.
You Are Not the Source
That is very good news, because we are not the source of the fruit.
Romans tells us that the Holy Spirit pours the love of God into our hearts. We do not manufacture divine love. We yield to the One who produces it. The same is true of peace. We cannot force ourselves into peace through sheer effort. We cannot shame ourselves into joy. We cannot grit our teeth and manufacture patience.
Pastor Liz said that if the voice inside us is saying, “If you could just get yourself together, you would finally have peace,” that is not the voice of the Lord.
The work belongs to the Holy Spirit. Our response is surrender.
We come back again and say, “Holy Spirit, I’m here again. I yield to You again.”
We allow Him to produce what we cannot produce on our own.
This Is Not a Message of Trying Harder
This is why Pastor Liz was careful to say that this is not a message of “try harder and be better.”
Joseph’s branch did not grow over the wall because he became better at forcing himself forward. Something was growing inside him. The Christian life works the same way. God is not primarily trying to transform us from the outside inward. The life of Christ has already been placed within us, and the Holy Spirit is maturing that life until what is on the inside begins to become visible on the outside.
Goodness is not simply behaving better. It is the goodness of God within us becoming visible through the way we live.
Self-control is not rigid human willpower. It is becoming so yielded to the Holy Spirit that nothing else has the right to control us.
Longsuffering is not simply suffering for a long time. It is becoming “long-tempered.” Someone else may bring their anger, brokenness, frustration, or immaturity toward us, but we do not have to return what they give us. Their process does not have to determine our response.
We can know who we are in Christ well enough to remain loving, patient, and free even while walking with someone who is still in process.
God Can Work With You
Pastor Liz also gave a beautiful picture of gentleness.
We often think gentleness simply means softness, but she described it in terms of usefulness—someone who can be easily employed by God.
A fruitful believer becomes someone who can walk with people at different stages of maturity. They do not demand that everyone reach a certain standard before they are willing to love them or work alongside them. Instead, they can say, “It’s alright. You’re in process. I’m in process too. Let’s walk this out together.” That reflects the heart of God Himself. He is perfect, yet He works with imperfect people. He is not intimidated by our weaknesses. He is not limited by our insecurity, our lack of experience, or even our lack of knowledge. He can work with us, and as the Holy Spirit develops that same nature in us, we become people God can increasingly use to help others grow.
The Wall Will Not Always Feel This Big
Joseph still faced opposition while he was growing.
Genesis says that archers grieved him, shot at him, and hated him. Fruitfulness did not remove difficulty from his life.
But God strengthened him.
Joseph continued growing until the limitations that once seemed overwhelming could no longer hold him.
Pastor Liz encouraged us to think about the walls we have faced in our own lives. There are things that once felt enormous that, through years of walking with God, we can now step over almost without thinking. That is the work of the Holy Spirit. He does not only remove obstacles, sometimes He grows us until the obstacle is no longer greater than the life He has developed within us.
The Point Is Not to Be Gifted
The gifts of God are beautiful, but they are not the final goal.
Pastor Liz made this clear near the end of the message: the point is not to become a gifted person.
The point is to become a person who increasingly reflects the nature of Christ. The gifts serve that purpose. Prophecy should lead people toward Christ. Healing should reveal Christ. Teaching should form Christ in people. Every expression of the Holy Spirit should ultimately help produce people who look more like Jesus.
And then Pastor Liz gave one of the strongest statements of the message:
“The fruit is not for the tree.”
Fruit exists to feed hungry people.
There is a world that is hungry for genuine love, not performance. Genuine peace, not religious language. Genuine joy, not shallow positivity. Genuine patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. People have seen giftedness, and they have also seen gifted people fall. What people are hungry for is something real, they are hungry for the life of Jesus.
Become a Fruitful Branch
The answer is not to spend our lives fighting every wall.
Remain planted.
Stay close to the well.
Draw life from Christ.
Yield to the Holy Spirit.
Let Him mature what He has already placed inside you. As that fruit begins to grow, it will feed people around you. It will carry seed that reproduces the life of Christ in others. And the walls that once seemed capable of containing you will begin to lose their power. There is no law against the fruit of the Spirit. There is no boundary capable of stopping genuine love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no limitation greater than the life of Christ within a person who is continually yielding to the Holy Spirit.
So stay planted by the well. Let the Holy Spirit make you fruitful, and when the wall remains in front of you, remember:
You may not have to break it down.
You may simply need to keep growing until your branches reach over it.

Fruit That Grows Over the Wall
Pastor Liz Jones
Short Summary

Lord, we thank You for the teaching of Your Word that transforms the hearts and minds of those who hear it. Holy Spirit we ask, that You would reveal areas of our heart that need the implanting of this Word that Pastor Liz gave. Show us where we have tried to tear down walls You are desiring us to grow over, reveal to us the areas of our lives where You would like to see us grow and mature. Holy Spirit, we ask for an increase in the growth of the fruits of Your Spirit within us so that the fruitfulness of Holy Spirit at work in our lives feeds others. Lastly, we thank you Father for Your grace, mercy, and love towards us as we remain rooted by the well and grow. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
