In a world marked by division, striving, fear, and exhaustion, the gospel announces something radically different: union. Not metaphorical union. Not conditional union. But an absolute, unbreakable union accomplished by God Himself.

Pastor David’s message, Unbreakable Union, centers on this reality—that the unity Jesus shares with the Father is the very same unity believers now share with God, and with one another, in Christ. This is not a future hope we strain toward, but a present reality we are invited to receive.

This healing is not a striving, but a receiving. Amen. That is the church. God’s building. So put your hands together when we get the word this morning from Pastor David.

Well, this message isn’t going to be as metal as that song, but I’ll give it my my best stuff right there. And pastor Bob, I mean, he’s right on, as always. The, the title of this message is Unbreakable Union. And so this is all about unity. So the unity that Christ has with the father is the unity that we have with the father.

00:01:01:22 – 00:01:22:03
Unknown
It’s an absolute unity. It’s unbreakable. The unity I have with the father is the unity you have with him. The unity I have with the father is the unity I have with you, because all are one in Christ Jesus. This is part of the good news is that God did not leave us in our destruction and our darkness and our division.

God came in the fullness of time on Christmas to gather all things to himself. So we’re going to be in Colossians one today, and I’m going to preach today the gospel that Paul preached in Colossians 123. We read this. I, Paul, became a minister of this gospel. So that tells you this. Paul said this a lot. The apostle Paul, what I’m about to read you.

00:01:46:10 – 00:02:12:05
Unknown
We’re going to actually start in verse 12 here. I had it as 13, but I’m going to give a lot of context today because I really believe the scriptures speak for themselves here, just laying out what God’s plan is, what his heart is, and how he wants to get into you. God brought you into him by taking on flesh as a baby, and he wants to get into you.

00:02:12:07 – 00:02:31:00

There’s a song by Reliant Kay called Getting Into You, okay? And it’s really good. And the guy in the song looks at the father and says, do you know what you’re getting into? If you want to get into me, do you really know what you’re getting into? And the gospel says, yes, he did know. And he went anyway.

00:02:31:02 – 00:02:49:03

He knows every bit of your mess. And he said, I want to get in there and I want to fix it from the inside. You know, a lot of us want God to do, surgery. We want to say, God, why don’t you end all cancer and all sickness from the outside? Why don’t you grab the world by the hair and pull it up?

00:02:49:05 – 00:03:10:14
Unknown
Or maybe by the bootstraps and pull it up? But God doesn’t do that. He gets down underneath the world, puts it in a fireman’s carry and lifts it up. He goes in and he smuggles himself into the darkness, and he lifts it from the inside. Because God doesn’t choose surgery, he chooses solidarity. He chooses to say, I will share your life and your experience.

00:03:10:16 – 00:03:34:09
Unknown
By the way, you’ll share my life and my experience. You know, Jesus shared our fallen human condition. He shared sinful nature, yet never sinning. He shared weakness, temptation. He shared oppression. He shared the devil coming at him. He shared that he shared the curse that came on us for our sin, even though he didn’t deserve it. He shared our death.

00:03:34:16 – 00:03:59:24
Unknown
He shared our burial in the underworld. He experienced all of it before God got into us, before he took on flesh. He could, he could empathize with us, but he couldn’t experience us. He could be a passenger, but not a participant. And God is a participant in the human condition. God is the crucified God. He’s the God in the Nativity.

00:03:59:26 – 00:04:17:27
Unknown
He’s the God who was a zygote, a fetus, a baby. We’re going to look at what who Paul says Jesus is, and we’re going to see who it was that was in the manger. We’re going to see who it was. It says, I want to get into your mess, and I want to give you my resurrection life and my glory.

00:04:17:29 – 00:04:40:20
Unknown
I want you to share the same glory I had with the father before the world began. John 17. What does that even mean? There was a church, father, we have the slide up. There is, Saint Athanasius. If you know church, history, you’ll know this name. You’ll respect this name. Saint Athanasius is credited as the, the foremost defender of the Trinity.

00:04:40:22 – 00:05:04:03
Unknown
And he said this God was made man so that man could be made God. Yes. Good. We’re not becoming a member of the Trinity. We’re becoming a member of a member of the Trinity because he’s part of us and we’re part of him. He shared everything that we are. And guess what? We get to share everything that he is.

00:05:04:06 – 00:05:19:18
Unknown
That’s good news to me. I mean, it’s, you know, it’s pretty good. I’m going to read you a gospel that Paul preached, and it’s pretty much just straight good news from beginning to end. Yes. We’re not going to balance it out. We’re not going to say, oh, you know, there’s reason not to hope. There’s reason to fear. There’s reason to think God’s going to kick you out.

00:05:19:24 – 00:05:40:13
Unknown
He’s going to change your mind. No, that’s not ever what Paul spoke. This is what he said. Give thanks to the father. Colossians 112. Give thanks to the father who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has rescued us. Wait, who rescued us from the father?

00:05:40:15 – 00:06:06:06
Unknown
The father? Jesus didn’t come to change the father’s mind about you, right? You don’t have to change the father’s mind about you. You have to change your mind about the father. The father’s not the angry God, the bad cop. And Jesus is the good cop and Jesus didn’t come to save you from God. He came to save you from sin and the kingdom of darkness and from death.

00:06:06:08 – 00:06:37:06
Unknown
ABBA rescued us. ABBA rescued us. Past tense. He will rescue you. If no. Sorry, I might stop a lot in this. Okay? ABBA rescued us from the kingdom, from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved son, in whom union, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Jesus is the image of the invisible God.

00:06:37:08 – 00:06:50:01
Unknown
God will never be invisible again. Well, the firstborn of all creation. For in him all things in heaven and on earth were created.

00:06:50:04 – 00:06:57:11
Unknown
Did you know you were created by God? Did you know you were created in God?

00:06:57:13 – 00:07:24:05
Unknown
Separation might be more of on your part than on God’s part. In him. All things were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers. That’s angels, demons, kings, princes, presidents, people on certain files released by the government. Okay, whatever. All things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things.

00:07:24:05 – 00:07:29:15
Unknown
That’s that means he’s not included in the category. All things.

00:07:29:17 – 00:07:40:03
Unknown
Jesus isn’t included in that category until he stepped into it. God is beyond the category of being or nonbeing. He’s just God.

00:07:40:05 – 00:07:43:29
Unknown
This is who’s in the manger.

00:07:44:01 – 00:07:55:21
Unknown
He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. If he didn’t hold you together, you’d fall into dust like Dracula. At six in the morning.

00:07:55:24 – 00:08:18:07
Unknown
He holds. He holds his enemies together. He held Judas together while he was betraying him. In him all things hold together. He, Jesus is the head of the body. The church. That’s a union. Whereas one with him as I’m one with this body that I’m in right now, he’s as one with us, as I’m one with you.

00:08:18:09 – 00:08:38:24
Unknown
It’s an absolute objective unity. Now, you might not subjectively participate in it, but it’s the reality. And God did it. You didn’t do it. I’m going to keep on going that he is the firstborn from the dead with.

00:08:38:27 – 00:09:02:01
Unknown
I he should share it. He shared my death and I share his resurrection. What’s what’s mine is his and what’s his is mine. Were married. Don’t put unbiblical layers of distance in here. He’s the spouse of my soul. No, he’s your spouse. Bob’s my spiritual dad. No, he’s my dad. Oh, you know Diane, she’s my sister in Christ.

00:09:02:02 – 00:09:28:10
Unknown
No, that’s my sister. The Bible never says spiritual father says, father, you do not have many teachers. You have many teachers, but you do not have many fathers. First Corinthians for pastor Bob is a dad to us. That’s why it hurts so much when he collapsed. That’s why we’re so relieved that God said his assignment not finished. You know, Bob exposed a lot of the hidden dangers of preaching.

00:09:28:13 – 00:09:46:04
Unknown
I’m coming up here. You know, you’re like, today. Don was like, you know, you better wear underwear that has no holes in it in case they have to cut your clothes off. You know, new fear unlocked. You know, you know, there’s only one way. There’s only one way to find out if I took her advice or not.

00:09:46:04 – 00:10:08:23
Unknown
But hopefully you won’t have to. You know, to find out. Okay. All right. But, yeah, but we’re so good. But that’s why we have such a unity that when one member suffers, we all suffer. When. When we suffer, Christ suffers. When Paul was Saul and he was throwing Christians in prison and killing them, Jesus showed up to him and said, why are you persecuting me?

00:10:08:26 – 00:10:30:24
Unknown
Because he takes solidarity and he experiences what you experience. He doesn’t look from the outside and press buttons and fix things in your life. He enters your life. He wants to get in there and he did. You just have to open up to it. You have to yield to it. What was Pastor Bob’s word? His word right before I came up here was, are you going to yield to unity?

00:10:30:27 – 00:10:33:16
Unknown
Yes.

00:10:33:18 – 00:10:56:05
Unknown
That’s and that’s what Paul goes on to say. I’m going to read the rest of this chapter. He says, step into maturity, step into your place. Christ has done it all. He’s accomplished it all. But it has to mature. It has to be activated. It has to be stepped into. If there’s one thing, pastor Bob ever did was he activated us, he activates, he commissions, he believes in you.

00:10:56:05 – 00:11:19:18
Unknown
He delegates to you. He says, I know what’s in you. That’s exactly what ABBA father says. I know what’s in you, Christ in you. The hope of glory he already got in there. Let’s let him out. Let’s step in a place where he can make a difference. Let’s step in a place where people need Christ. Let’s step in a place where our suffering can be redemptive.

00:11:19:20 – 00:11:40:11
Unknown
Let’s step in a place where our suffering lifts people out. Let’s not shrink back and say that somebody else’s job, let’s say no. Every joint has to supply the body has to be one. Yeah, okay. I think I was in the middle of reading the Bible. All right. Okay. So he created all things were created in him.

00:11:40:16 – 00:11:57:15
Unknown
All things are held together in him. If all things are in him and he rose from the dead, all things are resurrected in him because all things died in him. Those are logical conclusion. So you can draw if you doubt me. He says it flat out in Colossians three. You already died and your life is hidden in Christ.

00:11:57:18 – 00:12:17:00
Unknown
You’ve been raised in Christ, so just put on what you already are. It’s Colossians three. So we just have to put the Scripture in its its full context. Okay. So that in everything he might come to have the first place, just because we’re one with Christ, we know who the first born is. We know the one we worship.

00:12:17:02 – 00:12:41:11
Unknown
We’re not junior sons. God loves you just as much as he loves Jesus. But we know who saved us, don’t we? Yes, we know who died for us. Yeah. Worthy. Worthy. Worthy is the lamb who was slain to receive glory and honor and power. For by your blood you ransomed people from God. For God from every tribe, tongue, and nation, and made them a kingdom and priests to our God and Father.

00:12:41:13 – 00:13:06:24
Unknown
He is so worthy because he did not hold back. He didn’t shrink. He didn’t try to tinker from the outside. He doesn’t know about that. That’s not his nature. You. He hollowed out a womb within himself to create the universe. You think he’s going to stand distant from you? You think he’s far from us? Jeremiah 2323 says, do I not fill the heavens and the earth?

00:13:06:24 – 00:13:32:26
Unknown
Declares the Lord? Can a man hide himself in hiding places so I cannot find him? God soaks the universe like a the universe is like a sponge in a full sink of water. The waters. God, yeah. He’s in. And through all things he’s upholding all things. He’s interested. He’s invested. Okay. Yeah. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.

00:13:32:29 – 00:14:04:01
Unknown
Who was in the manger? God. Oh, kind of a demigod, right? No. The fullness of God. A good guru, right? A spiritual teacher. No. God, Yahweh, the creator, the uncreated one who transcends being a nonbeing. That’s who’s in a manger, that’s who’s crying in the night. You just got to go. Wow, it’s the fullness of God. You can’t have a high enough Christology, a view of Jesus.

00:14:04:04 – 00:14:26:11
Unknown
I have a very high one. If you can’t, if you don’t notice that I think very highly of Jesus, let me do reliant. Okay. One more time. Never underestimate my Jesus, okay? Never underestimate him. You think he hasn’t done like there’s nothing he’s not capable of redeeming? If your story hasn’t come to redemption, maybe it’s just not over.

00:14:26:14 – 00:14:49:25
Unknown
Because he’s not separate from you, okay? He’s in you to redeem you. He brought you into himself, into the fullness of God. He connected God and man. Jesus isn’t just the meeting place between God and man. He’s not just the bridge between God and man. He’s the God man. He’s the God man. He mingled divine blood with human blood.

00:14:49:28 – 00:15:11:26
Unknown
The life of God with the life of man. Does this make sense to everybody? He interwoven God and humanity like a knot of three cords, and he’s cinched it so tight there’s no space anymore. If there’s any space, it’s on our end. It’s from me. Because I shrink back and I put layers in and I say, oh, he’s not that close.

00:15:11:28 – 00:15:43:20
Unknown
I don’t want him that close. Maybe I don’t deserve for him to be that close. Maybe we or I want to do this. So I’m not even focusing on that. But he’s like, that’s the reality. Cinch it tight. Three fold cord isn’t easily broken. Okay? The in him. In Jesus, all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell and through Jesus God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.

00:15:43:22 – 00:15:53:12
Unknown
He all things were created in him. All things were held together. In him all things were reconciled in him. Past tense, done.

00:15:53:15 – 00:16:23:18
Unknown
Okay. And you? How’s this apply to me? You, who once were estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds. He has already now reconciled in his fleshly body through death, so as to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him, provided that you continue securely established and steadfast in the faith, without shifting from the hope promised by the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven.

00:16:23:23 – 00:16:48:26
Unknown
I, Paul, became a minister of this gospel. So what is this gospel? This is the gospel of peace, reconciliation. You think? Well, we’re supposed to have the gospel of the kingdom. You don’t have to choose. Isaiah nine seven says of the increase of his government, his kingdom and his peace. There will be no end. It’s two sides of the same coin where God’s kingdom, advances.

00:16:48:29 – 00:17:15:11
Unknown
Peace begins to reign. That’s why we can’t have a violent kingdom. That’s why we can’t have a political Christianity. That’s why we can’t have a Fox News or MSNBC Christianity, because it’s the gospel of peace and reconciliation. He’s trying to reconcile. He is reconciled to all things. Paul said in Second Corinthians five, therefore you be reconciled to him.

00:17:15:14 – 00:17:19:25
Unknown
He laid down his weapons. What will you do?

00:17:19:28 – 00:17:42:11
Unknown
Will you say, okay, God, you’re right, we’re good. That’s to be reconciled. That’s to be in Christ subjectively, that’s to come in to the faith, that’s to be healed, that’s to be made whole, that’s to to respond to the gospel. See, there’s this gospel of peace where he just flat out just announced it to you. He said he has created he has sustained.

00:17:42:15 – 00:18:05:29
Unknown
He has reconciled. If you wonder if it applies to you, I said all things. Are you in that category? Okay. And in Greek, it’s the all things he created, the all things he holds together, the all things and he reconciled the all things. So that’s you. The question is what what do you do? That’s the question. Do you step in or not?

00:18:06:01 – 00:18:29:22
Unknown
Do you hear good news because it did you notice it’s not an offer. It’s if you do this you do this. It’s just. No, he reconciled you. God loves you so much. He laid down his arms. God and centers reconciled. Joyful. All you nations rise. Join the triumph of the skies. The angel comes to the shepherds and he says, peace on earth, goodwill to men, peace to you.

00:18:29:24 – 00:18:55:14
Unknown
He just announces it and he leaves. It’s because it’s all from God. Earlier in Colossians one, Paul said, you guys learned this gospel from Epaphras my, my, my fellow worker and you understood the grace of God in truth. You understand that God did this as a gift. He entered into humanity. He took on our death, he buried it, and he rose us out of it.

00:18:55:17 – 00:19:28:04
Unknown
In Christ, all people were contained just like Adam. He’s the second Adam. He’s the representative. Do we live in line with that or do we thrusted aside? Do we say, yeah, okay, I don’t know. So Paul, he goes on, he applies it. He says, I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake and in my flesh. I’m completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church says, well, Christ suffered everything I suffered.

00:19:28:07 – 00:19:54:19
Unknown
Now I get to suffer what your suffering. Now I get to bear your burdens. He didn’t just die for me. He didn’t just die as me, as my representative. He died ahead of me. The gospel is a done deal and it’s an open door. The grace of God makes you whole and it launches you forward into gospel maturity.

00:19:54:21 – 00:20:15:11
Unknown
This makes sense. Paul said. Wow, he suffered for me. I’m going to suffer for you. He suffered to show who God really is. That’s that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to take any hit if it means I can tell people who our father is, I’m going to take any hit. If it means I can show somebody the mercy and the love of Jesus.

00:20:15:14 – 00:20:34:15
Unknown
If I can meet somebody need if I can support somebody who’s struggling, I’m going to do that. Christ already opened the way he showed me. He enabled me. He gave me a nature that wants to do it. And that’s what I’m going to do. You know, these past few weeks have been pretty heavy because, Bob’s been in the hospital.

00:20:34:15 – 00:20:53:28
Unknown
I’ve been taking care of the kids and the, you know, the body of Christ is totally help me. The body of Christ here and from other churches by the way, we’re also united with other churches, so that’s should be a no brainer. You know, everybody knows that. But it’s just been amazing because that’s the only way we can we can do things is in Christ.

00:20:54:01 – 00:21:04:29
Unknown
Paul said in, Philippians 413, I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me. And Christ is not just the person of Jesus, it’s the body of Christ.

00:21:05:02 – 00:21:13:00
Unknown
We’re one look to your left. That’s Christ. Look to your right. That’s Christ.

00:21:13:03 – 00:21:25:02
Unknown
Colossians three says there’s no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, Greek, Scythian, barbarian, male or female, but Christ is all and in all.

00:21:25:04 – 00:21:33:19
Unknown
This is the new nation. It’s, it’s one nation in God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

00:21:33:21 – 00:21:52:01
Unknown
Okay, this is the nation that we’re in, and people have supported us. They’ve borne our burdens. They helped me with the kids. They brought meals. You know, probably just because they have pity on a, like, a single dad, you know, and they’re like, you know, what’s he even doing? It’s probably letting too much Die Hard or something.

00:21:52:03 – 00:22:15:19
Unknown
It is a Christmas movie, you know? But, people have helped me, you know, and, just really grateful because in Christ, we can handle things, you know, the voice of fear and the voice of immaturity. It says, I can’t handle this. Is everybody listening? So, you know I can’t handle this, but what you can do is you say, I’m in Christ.

00:22:15:22 – 00:22:40:29
Unknown
Christ is in me, and we can handle it. Yeah. Paul said, I can do all things in Christ. He’s closer than your breath. He’s closer than your innermost thought. He’s there and he’s not only in you, he’s around you. He’s connected to you. The body of Christ will help you join yourself to the body of Christ. If you’re in the body, step into your place.

00:22:41:01 – 00:23:02:00
Unknown
Don’t be dislocated. Have someone pop you back in. You know. Have someone lay hands on you, pop you back into your space. You know it’s going to hurt a lot if you’re out of position, by the way, because you’re designed to be in a certain position. What have we learned from pastor Bob? You are the church. Are we ready to listen to what he’s been telling us?

00:23:02:03 – 00:23:25:26
Unknown
Are we going to have a moment where we are shocked back into the heartbeat of God to share this with me earlier? We can choose to go back to our old rhythm, or we can let ourselves be shaken and realigned with the way that God wants us to be. With what God has called us to do, we can participate in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and we can bring this reconciliation to the people around us.

00:23:26:02 – 00:23:47:20
Unknown
We can bring this peace to our family, to our marriage, to our church, to our community, if we are willing to mature. See, God does all this and he says, everything’s in you. I did it all in Christ. But can we resist maturity? Yes, I can, I don’t know about anybody else. I resisted maturity for many years. You know I won’t give you all the details.

00:23:47:20 – 00:24:08:10
Unknown
Had a lot to do with video games and Cheetos and, you know, all kinds of stuff, you know, but we can very much resist maturity. And the Christ that’s in us doesn’t develop to the fullness, you know, in, in our actual experience. That’s our response to this good news. God announces peace. He announces wholeness. He says, you’re full.

00:24:08:15 – 00:24:24:24
Unknown
I did it all for you. And you go, that’s really true. I’m really safe. What do I do now? You’re going to have to motivate yourself a little bit differently. Paul’s gospel did not motivate there with fear.

00:24:24:27 – 00:24:43:21
Unknown
He didn’t do it. He has some warnings in here. He’s going to tell you how it is. But he just says, look, he made you reconciled. You’re one with Christ. He did it all in his body of flesh. What do I have to do? Oh, he did it in his body of flesh. Well, what do I boasting? Oh, he he did it.

00:24:43:23 – 00:24:49:14
Unknown
Well, what’s my what’s my part. No, he he did that that.

Wait, so why did he do that? Because he loves you. And he wants you to be safe and secure. What does it mean when you get saved? Well, it means I’m safe now.

00:25:00:22 – 00:25:26:14
Unknown
If I was going to die and somebody saved me, I’d say I’m safe. And it’d be weird if I then thought they would unsaved me. Maybe you do. You’re totally secure. You’re one. You’re as one with the father, as the son and spirit. They are ontologically one being God. Is Christ divided? No. It’s impossible. You can’t be separated from the love of God.

00:25:26:16 – 00:25:50:29

Romans 838 and 39 says, I’m convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. The union is the gospel that we were not in union with God because we were running away.

00:25:51:02 – 00:26:12:04

And he said, I’m not going to allow that. I will grab you. I’ll take on your flesh, I’ll take on your sin, I’ll bury it, and I’ll raise you up, and then I’ll see you on the throne of heaven. Apart from your works. Because I love you and you’re my son, and you’re my daughter. Yeah, yeah. There’s just good news from beginning to end.

00:26:12:06 – 00:26:29:05
Unknown
So you get to start at the place that we were all trying to finish. Well, hopefully, if I do good enough, God will accept me. I’ll be righteous. I’ll be approved. I’ll be on the throne of heaven. I’ll reign with him. Just start there. It’s a done deal. Start with finished. It’s a done deal. It’s also an open door.

00:26:29:07 – 00:26:54:11

Our identity is not necessarily our experience. The objective fact of the gospel is not going to be your subjective reality unless you yield. It’s good unless you step in. Unless you say I was actually created for good works that God ordained in advance for me to do. Otherwise I should just go be with Jesus. I mean, Pastor Bob’s probably going to say, why did you guys bring me back?

00:26:54:11 – 00:27:16:04

You know, I can already hear. I can already hear these these jokes and everything, but as long as we’re here, it’s because it’s not for us. We already made it. It’s for somebody else that needs to make it. I don’t need to add one more good work to be as close to God as I could ever be. I am one with God in the God-Man, Jesus Christ.

I share his glory. You just can’t see it. It’s going to come out someday. It’s going to transfigure. And that’s that’s true of y’all. In Colossians 127 it says, this is the mystery Christ in y’all, the US plural, Christ in y’all. The hope of glory. He’s in you. He’s going to come out. Give it time. You don’t have to grow in glory.

00:27:38:20 – 00:28:04:19

You grow into it. And you don’t have to go up a level of glory. You grow into it. You don’t have to grow in righteousness. You have the righteousness of God. Infinite righteousness. Second Corinthians 521. You can’t grow in righteousness. You grow into it. The butterfly you know, it’s like the worm has everything in it to become a butterfly, but it looks like a worm for a while.

My five year old is a perfect five year old, but she’s not everything she will be. She’s everything she should be. She’s everything she ought to be. You’re a son or daughter of the living God. You’ve been reconciled by his blood. You’ve been raised your spirits new. Okay, that’s who you are. You’re righteous. You made it. You’re good.

00:28:28:16 – 00:28:50:06

You’re safe. Yeah, yeah. Let it hit you, okay? Even if you collapse. Even if I collapse here, I’m good. If I. If that happens to me, just. That’s the way I want to go. I’m just telling everybody, like, all right, just, I won’t be sad about it. Okay? So you’re good. You’re you’re safe. You’re complete in him.

00:28:50:06 – 00:28:57:26

Colossians two nine. Are you guys hearing the good news? So I’m safe. I’m free.

00:28:57:28 – 00:29:24:13
Unknown
Yeah, I can rest. I can rest and repent from dead works. Well, what principle number is that in the doctrine of Christ, one you repent and rest from your dead works. Christ has made you worthy. The father has qualified you to share in the inheritance. He already rescued you. It was the father’s idea. He lives in you by the spirit.

00:29:24:19 – 00:29:51:22

You can never be separated from him. Man. What’s in you? What are you going to step into? What are you going to walk in? What will you become first? John three two says, it hasn’t appeared what we will be, but we know. And he appears will be like him, because we’ll see him as he is, and it’s already resident in you, man.

Just sit with the Lord and be safe in his presence and enjoy him and let the stress go and let the fear go. And all of a sudden you can grow fruits like joy and patience and self-control and gentleness. When you’re stressed out and afraid. I will now be patient. I will now be joyous. I will now be not.

00:30:11:25 – 00:30:25:02

It doesn’t work if you’re trying to get safe. You’ll never produce those fruit. If you can receive the gospel of peace.

His love is for me. His steadfast love never ends. Now, does everyone around me know that? I don’t think so. I don’t know if most people in church know that. I didn’t know that for a long time in church I wouldn’t receive it. It’s too good to be true. The two good good news the not the unfinished finished work of Christ.

00:30:48:03 – 00:31:12:16
Unknown
The actual finished work. Not the conditional, unconditional love of God. The actual unconditional love of God. ABBA unconditionally loves you. He made you so you could be one with him and experience his love. That’s why I made you. He didn’t make you so you could do something for him. It’s made you because he loved you. You wanted to love you, wanted you to be closer than in his own heart.

00:31:12:17 – 00:31:35:14
Unknown
That’s why he gave his heart to you. That’s why he gave his son to you. It’s why he brought you into his heart. It’s why he’s seated you in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians two six. Not with Christ Jesus in Christ Jesus. See, I think in a Christmas message, the Old Testament was really close when it said, you’ll call his name Emmanuel, God with us.

00:31:35:16 – 00:32:00:12
Unknown
That’s close. That’s not the gospel. The gospel is God in us and us in God. That’s why he came to the manger. That’s why he washed feet Judas’s feet. That’s why he forgave his enemies who are crucify him. That’s why he healed the sick. That’s why he touched lepers. That’s why oppressed women felt safe with him. That’s why prostitutes could come and kiss.

00:32:00:17 – 00:32:28:21
Unknown
Kiss his feet. Because this is who God is. He’ll never be invisible again. He is really this good. The good news is really this good. Peace on earth. Goodwill towards men. That includes you. What are you going to do? What can you tell somebody about that? Go tell it on the mountain, okay? I’m not. We’re not ready. We’re not ready to hear my R&B renditions of things.

00:32:28:24 – 00:32:44:29
Unknown
Our church is ready for a lot of things, but not, you know, not for that. Okay. That might be the kingdom of darkness, I don’t know. Okay. All right, so I just want to reiterate here at the end, I’m going to I’m going to close up here. But this is how Paul ends. He says it’s Christ who we proclaim.

00:32:44:29 – 00:32:50:12
Unknown
This is Colossians 128. It’s Christ whom we proclaim.

00:32:50:15 – 00:33:17:09
Unknown
Are you proclaiming Christ? What do you preach to yourself? You’re not doing good. You’re falling short. God’s disgusted in you know, why don’t you preach Christ to yourself? Yeah, yeah. You’ll never change God’s mind about you. He loves you with an everlasting love. Time for you to change your mind about God. Yeah. Okay. It is Christ whom we proclaim, warning everyone like he’s warning you.

00:33:17:10 – 00:33:37:13
Unknown
Why are you shrinking back? You’re not moving into the glory. You’re staying and experiencing the kingdom of darkness. You’re continuing to submit to shame and guilt when that’s not your reality. I’m going to warn you and teach you to move out of that. Repent. Turn from that. That’s a response to the good news. It’s not part of the good news.

00:33:37:13 – 00:34:00:03
Unknown
It’s not a condition you meet to get the good news. You hear the good news, and then you repent as a response. The kindness of God leads you to change the way you think completely. Yes, okay. It is he whom we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ or perfect in Christ.

00:34:00:05 – 00:34:28:24
Unknown
For this I toil and strive with all the energy that he powerfully inspires within me. Now we have the example of Christ. We have the example of even pastor Bob, and we have the indwelling Spirit of God mightily working in energy in us to gather the lost sheep, to bring peace to our family, to speak peace to our own hearts and say, yeah, things could be crumbling.

00:34:28:26 – 00:34:58:01
Unknown
We could be looking to things that are temporal and it seems very unstable. But man, I’m one with God. He’s one with me. I’m one with Mike. I’m one with Titus. We are one body. Yes. There’s no division. Do you discern that, Jeremiah has been talking to me about this? Do we discern the body of Christ? Are you looking and saying that person is not just my brother in Christ?

00:34:58:01 – 00:35:23:09
Unknown
That’s my brother, that’s me. That’s my flesh, that’s my blood. Those are cells that stream into my bloodstream. What they do affects me. What they do blesses me and helps me. And we’re one in this. Let’s step into it. Let’s realize it. Put away childish thinking, separation thinking. Oh, they’re not really me. They’re not my church. They don’t believe my doctrines.

00:35:23:14 – 00:35:47:20
Unknown
They don’t treat me a certain way. They don’t recognize me. I don’t have this. That separation is unbiblical. Layers of distance. Right? We are one in him. It says in John 17, Jesus prayed, I pray they would be as completely united as one as I am with you, father, a Trinitarian Union.

00:35:47:23 – 00:35:54:01
Unknown
The good news is it’s already accomplished. That’s good. You could never do that.

00:35:54:03 – 00:36:20:23
Unknown
I could never do that. I have trouble just even asking for help. Good thing God already made us one good thing. He already hooked up and connected all our bloodstreams. So just don’t. The only way to get out of this is like to amputate. Like to really, like, throw it aside. In acts 13, Paul said, since you judge yourself unworthy and you thrust aside the gospel, we’re going to turn to the Gentiles, because Paul’s just putting it right in their face.

00:36:20:25 – 00:36:33:20
Unknown
He goes, you’re reconciled, you’re justified, you’re saved. You’re one also with these Gentiles or that. No, they didn’t want that. They throw us to the side.

00:36:33:23 – 00:36:41:22
Unknown
Will we step into the place that we’ve been shrinking back from? Will we love those that we have? We’ve armored against?

00:36:41:25 – 00:37:04:16
Unknown
Will we take our issues? We haven’t been able to solve them alone. And we say to somebody, I need your prayer. I need your help. Will we take maturity? Will we listen to the example and the love of pastor Bob and step into this? If you wonder what does this look like practically, it looks like Bob. Bob secures your heart before he ever tells you anything.

00:37:04:18 – 00:37:25:11
Unknown
He treats you as a son or daughter. Then he’ll tell you the truth. Then he’ll activate you and he’ll give you. He’ll push you a little bit, say, come on, this is who you really are. This is what’s in you. Yeah, yeah. This is what our father wants to do today. Pastor Bob prophesied it from the ether. Wherever he is, you know, he’s probably here in the spirit because he’s a prophet guy, you know?

00:37:25:11 – 00:37:47:27
Unknown
So he’s probably he might be right there. I don’t know, I don’t know where he is, but, but anyway, I just want us to to conclude with that thought of where is God calling you to step forward? Where are you going to step into the ministry of Christ as an ambassador of reconciliation? Where are you going to pull on people and say, come home to the father.

00:37:47:29 – 00:38:17:28
Unknown
Come home. You’re safe in God. You’re safe with me. I want to listen to you. We can take those steps or we can shrink back. If we shrink back, the stuff doesn’t benefit us. It’s not automatic, okay? But it is really, really, really good news. Does it make sense to everybody? All right, man, I just I don’t know, it feels like I should say one one more thing here, but you guys are probably like, no, you don’t.

00:38:18:00 – 00:38:56:29
Unknown
All right, one more, one more verse. Colossians two nine In Christ, the whole fullness of the deity dwells in bodily form, and you have come to fullness in him who is the head of every ruler and authority. You’re as full of God as Jesus is. That’s the. The unity you have with him is absolute, unbreakable. Let’s let’s maybe tonight or this afternoon, let’s sit in that and say, whoa, what?

00:38:57:01 – 00:39:16:15
Unknown
I can tap into this. ABBA looks at me with eyes that are full of fire, full of love. He approves of me in Christ. He’s proud of me in Christ. I just want to say I, you know, I feel the pride of the father and you guys, and I’m proud to be a word of life for I’m proud to be a lion.

00:39:16:15 – 00:39:34:03
Unknown
I’m proud to be a Wilke. I’m proud to be the son of Bob. I’m proud to be a word of life. I’m proud of this body. I’m proud of how we came together. There’s been people saying I couldn’t believe how they took care of Bob. Everybody came together. And there wasn’t panic. There wasn’t fright. There was really peace.

00:39:34:05 – 00:39:56:25
Unknown
There was really that. And there was life that came from the dead. Because we all worked together. We all came together as one. This is the heartbeat we can have moving forward. And Christ has already made it a done deal. Father, we thank you for your grace. We thank you that you have saved us before we were even born, before it was even our idea.

00:39:56:25 – 00:40:01:07
Unknown
Without our permission, you saved us.

00:40:01:09 – 00:40:17:09
Unknown
Thank you. ABBA. I just pray that you’d increase us in our faith and establish us secure and steadfast in the hope of the gospel. In Jesus name, Amen. All right.

00:40:17:11 – 00:40:20:21
Unknown
Thank you.

00:40:20:24 – 00:40:34:14
Unknown
I don’t think we could have brought any better gift to you guys than what was just spoken. Amen. Thank you, Pastor David. Just give it.

00:40:34:16 – 00:40:55:28

We’re going to be heading across the way to a place we call our fellowship hall. We have food there for visitors that would like to join us. And next week, we are going to be, sending out a, registration link, because we’re going to be feeding the church and, having having a party next week. And so, go ahead and, sign up for that.

00:40:56:04 – 00:41:20:11
Unknown
Make sure we can get a food count. And have a good guess as to how many people will be feeding. And also today there is a, event happening at the fairgrounds or, praise in the park. It is at the fairgrounds. Yeah. And so there’s, some worship happening. From 1 to 7 and, you just a great team down there bringing, bringing praise to our community.

00:41:20:11 – 00:41:25:27
Unknown
So, feel free to join them. All right, everybody, let’s do fellowship.

From Striving to Receiving

The message opens with a crucial distinction: healing is not a striving, but a receiving. Much of our spiritual frustration comes from trying to earn what has already been freely given. We often imagine God as distant, waiting for us to fix ourselves before He draws near. But the gospel tells a different story.

God did not stand outside humanity attempting to repair it from afar. He entered it.

Rather than choosing “surgery from the outside,” God chose solidarity. He stepped into human weakness, suffering, temptation, and even death—not as a detached observer, but as a full participant. In Jesus, God smuggled Himself into the darkness to lift humanity from the inside out.

This is the heart of Christmas: not merely God with us, but God in us—and us in God.

The Christ Who Holds All Things Together

Drawing from Colossians 1, Pastor David walks through Paul’s sweeping vision of Christ:

  • All things were created in Him
  • All things are held together in Him
  • All things have been reconciled in Him

This is not poetic exaggeration—it is theological reality. Christ is not one being among many. He stands outside the category of “all things,” sustaining creation moment by moment. Nothing exists independently of Him.

And astonishingly, this same Christ chose to take on flesh. The One who transcends being and non-being lay in a manger. The fullness of God dwelled bodily in Jesus—not partially, not symbolically, but completely.

God will never be invisible again.

Reconciliation: Past Tense, Finished Work

One of the most striking emphases of the message is Paul’s use of past tense language. Humanity has been reconciled. Sin has been dealt with. Peace has been established.

The gospel is not an offer contingent on performance—it is an announcement of what God has already done.

God did not send Jesus to change the Father’s mind about humanity. The Father Himself initiated rescue. Salvation was His idea. Redemption was His desire. Reconciliation was His joy.

The question is not whether God has reconciled humanity to Himself—the question is whether we will step into what is already true.

Union That Changes Everything

Because Christ united Himself to humanity, humanity is now united to God. This union is not fragile. It cannot be undone by failure, fear, suffering, or even death.

Believers are not “junior sons” or distant relatives in God’s household. They share in Christ’s life, righteousness, and glory—not by effort, but by participation.

This union also reshapes how we see one another. The body of Christ is not a spiritual metaphor—it is a lived reality. When one member suffers, all suffer. When one rejoices, all rejoice.

Pastor David connects this truth to the church’s recent experience surrounding Pastor Bob’s health emergency. The body did not respond with panic or fragmentation, but with unity, peace, and care. Burdens were shared. Needs were met. Life flowed through the body because the body recognized itself as one.

This is union made visible.

Maturity: Living From What Is Already True

While union is objectively accomplished, it must be subjectively lived. Scripture calls believers to maturity—not to earn belonging, but to express it.

Maturity does not mean becoming more loved or more accepted. It means growing into what is already true. Just as a child is fully human yet still growing, believers are fully righteous in Christ while still learning to live from that righteousness.

We do not grow in righteousness—we grow into it.

Fear-based religion motivates through insecurity. The gospel motivates through safety. When we know we are secure, we are finally free to love, serve, suffer, and give without self-protection.

Christ in You: The Hope of Glory

Paul calls this the great mystery of the faith: Christ in you, the hope of glory. Not Christ near you. Not Christ tolerating you. Christ in you.

This indwelling presence is not waiting for permission to love—it is already at work. The call is simply to yield. To stop shrinking back. To let go of separation thinking. To step into unity with God and with His people.

The good news really is this good.

An Invitation to Step Forward

The message concludes with a call—not to strive harder, but to step forward in trust. To live as ambassadors of reconciliation. To speak peace into families, churches, and communities. To love without armor. To ask for help. To walk together as one body.

Union is not something we achieve. It is something we awaken to.

Christ has already done the work.
The door is open.
The invitation stands.

Will we step into it?

Discussion Guide

3 Ice-Breaker Questions

  1. What’s a time you felt truly “carried” by community when you couldn’t do it alone?
  2. When you hear the word unity, what’s your first reaction—hope, tension, excitement, skepticism?
  3. If you had to describe “the gospel” in one sentence, what would you say today?

7 Discussion Questions

  1. Pastor David says: “This healing is not a striving, but a receiving.” Where do you tend to strive spiritually instead of receive?
  2. In Colossians 1, Paul uses “past tense” language: created, held together, reconciled. What changes if you actually believe reconciliation is already accomplished?
  3. He says: “You don’t have to change the Father’s mind about you—you have to change your mind about the Father.” What “version of God” do you still catch yourself reacting to?
  4. What’s the difference between being objectively united with Christ vs subjectively participating in that union?
  5. Pastor David challenges “separation thinking” (distance, comparison, dislocation). What are subtle ways separation shows up in church life?
  6. He connects union to suffering: “When one member suffers, we all suffer.” What does it look like to bear burdens without burning out?
  7. If you fully believed: “You’re safe. You’re complete in Him.” what specific step of maturity would you take next?

Closing Prayer (short, usable)

Father, thank You that You initiated reconciliation and brought us into Christ by Your love, not our striving. Teach us to receive Your peace, to live from the finished work, and to walk in unity with Your body. Heal any separation thinking in us, and mature us into ambassadors of reconciliation in our homes, our church, and our community. In Jesus’ name, amen.
