Pastor Jonathan and Pastor Shelly Foley taught that multiplication is not merely about numerical growth. Biblical multiplication reproduces the life and identity of Jesus into other people, communities, and generations.
God’s pattern throughout Scripture is blessing and empowerment before mission. Because God supplies what we need, the church is called to reproduce His life through discipleship, leadership, church planting, and faithful stewardship.
The message also marked an important moment for Word of Life with the announcement of the intention to plant Word of Life Jamestown. As the church enters a new season of multiplication, unity, discipleship, and surrender will become increasingly important.

It’s probably going to be the best message that you’ve ever heard. I always say that I always put the. I always put the bar pretty high, but I want to invite to the stage our lead pastors, Shelly and Jonathan Foley.
00:00:10:16 – 00:00:18:04
Unknown
So come on up here. We’re going to share it with us. We got some stools coming up for you.
00:00:18:07 – 00:00:48:09

All right, all right. Well, those are those are big shoes to fill. Pastor David is one of our faves. I, I love drawn from him and hearing him speak about the word. He’s one of our teachers and our spirit school of ministry. And, for those who have been going through that, there is quite a bit of incredible depth that you get to encounter as you dive in and learn the word, learn what it means to be a disciple.
00:00:48:09 – 00:01:16:00
Unknown
And so if you’re feeling that nudge spirit school of ministry. Yeah. Alright you guys. Well, today I think it’ll be like the best message ever because we have a really great announcement to make today. But what we’re going to try and do is articulate clearly what God’s up to, how we feel like he’s directing us as a church and the things we’re looking at.
00:01:16:01 – 00:01:53:16
Unknown
And we’ve been in a great series. I’ve really enjoyed the last two messages. My wife started off presenting God building his church, right. The church under construction. And with that message, she delivered just such a clear purpose and mission that the church was given for to oppose the gates of hell. How exciting does it get? That is the the most passionate reason any of us would choose to follow Christ is because we hate the brokenness.
00:01:53:17 – 00:02:16:14
Unknown
We hate the the destruction. We hate the, life robbing, issues that go on in our world where people do not know how to love, where people do, do not know how to live. The church is intended by God to change that and to go to the source of what’s causing all of that. The gates of hell.
00:02:16:15 – 00:02:49:09

Amen. And then pastor Bob got up and really announced Jesus, saying, I will build my church. And he he made this statement, the church belongs to him. He is the foundation, the cornerstone, and the builder. And in that he talked a little bit about presbytery, which we’re going to be having on the 21st. And so we’re going to be stepping into that even more, where we’re watching Holy Spirit truly build his church.
00:02:49:12 – 00:03:11:06
Unknown
And so today, we’re bringing in the the focus of the church being built to multiply. Yeah. So yeah. So that’s exciting. The church is built to multiply. So first, what the heck is multiplication?
00:03:11:09 – 00:03:47:29
Unknown
Multiplication, first of all, is not our idea. Multiplication is God’s design. The dictionary defines multiplication as an increase in number or quantity, but biblically, multiplication is more than increasing numbers. Multiplication is God’s design for extending life, for extending influence, and extending purpose. From the very beginning, mankind was created to multiply. Genesis 128 says, God bless them and said, be fruitful.
00:03:48:00 – 00:04:27:24
Unknown
And that was totally weak. And I know you all know that verse. God bless them and said, be fruitful and multiply, said, fill the earth and subdue it. You see, it wasn’t man’s idea. It was God’s idea. His original purpose in mankind, multiplication begins with God always, always. It begins with his blessings. The same verse one. Genesis 128 says, God blessed them and said, be fruitful and multiply.
00:04:27:27 – 00:05:03:16
Unknown
The order is really important. God bless them. God then commissioned them, and then God expected fruitfulness and multiplication from what he already provided for them. It’s super simple, right? God never commanded multiplication before, first providing blessing and capacity to multiply. Fruitfulness was not merely about having kids. It was about spreading life and order and God’s purposes throughout the earth.
00:05:03:18 – 00:05:16:14
Unknown
Humanity was created in God’s image, and God’s desire was that the earth would be filled with people who reflected him.
00:05:16:17 – 00:05:46:29
Unknown
The command to fill the earth was not a call to repair an already depleted world. It was a call to extend the beauty and order and flourishing of Eden outward, until the whole earth reflected God’s rule and God’s glory. Multiplication has always been about more than just growth. It has been about expanding God’s influence and reflecting God’s character.
00:05:47:01 – 00:06:14:04
Unknown
You see, God’s designed that. That design for multiplication continued throughout Scripture. It’s not just found in the very beginning of Genesis and creation. It’s thread through the whole entire scriptures. Abraham in Genesis 12 verse two says, God says, I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be blessing.
00:06:14:05 – 00:06:51:08
Unknown
You will be a blessing. God blessed Abraham first, and then multiplication followed through descendants and nations. God created nations out of Abraham. That’s multiplication in Israel. Deuteronomy 713. He says he will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground. Blessing always precedes increase. We see in Matthew 28 that Jesus followed the same pattern.
00:06:51:10 – 00:07:05:03
Unknown
And he said, Jesus came to them and says, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.
00:07:05:06 – 00:07:21:24
Unknown
Before Jesus gave the Great Commission, he established his authority. So we need to understand that before multiplication, he provides the authority and the empowerment for the mission that he’s sending us on.
00:07:21:27 – 00:08:00:00
Unknown
Acts one verse eight says, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witness. Again, we see this reinforcement of empowerment first. God provides everything we need for multiplication, then it’s mission. Then it is multiplication. Acts is the story of multiplication. If you read the whole book of acts, it is the story of going from 12 who followed Jesus to multiplication of Christianity into the hundreds of thousands across nations and nations and nations.
00:08:00:03 – 00:08:37:22
Unknown
You see, disciples were multiplied and then leaders were multiplied, and then churches were multiplied, resulting in the gospel being multiplied. All right. So we want to drive home some important stuff, because there’s there’s sometimes a negative connotation that comes with growing, you know, increase. You can actually get caught up on this number factor where you’re worried about numbers and not the quality, not the intent.
00:08:37:25 – 00:09:02:19
Unknown
When you look at something like mathematics, you have this, this quality of addition, this function of addition, and you have this function of multiplication. What’s the difference? Why aren’t we just adding people to the church? What’s happening in math? You kind of get to see a picture there where addition can take whatever’s available and just add it together.
00:09:02:21 – 00:09:41:18
Unknown
And the result of what’s available is your sum total. But in multiplication, you’re dealing with the same integer. You’re dealing with a two. Two times three. You’re actually taking two three times and adding it together. Two plus two plus two equals six. Right. There’s there’s a commonality taking place in multiplication. Multiplication increases from a single source. Addition increases without identity.
00:09:41:20 – 00:10:20:09
Unknown
The church multiplying has a responsibility. Every human carries the potential of multiplication, though this is clearly seen in the reproduction process of mankind. It applies to the nature of mankind as well. Our multiplication is focused with what we are. So Jesus becomes the perfect illustration for us. Jesus, when he started calling his disciples, he wasn’t just calling people for numbers.
00:10:20:12 – 00:10:53:04
Unknown
He wasn’t just seeing how many people he could preach to. He was thinking, how do I reach people when I’m gone? Jesus knew his entire ministry would never be about gathering bigger crowds. Instead, he poured his life into a handful of men. Why? Because addition fills the hillsides for a day. That’s right. Multiplication changes generations, additions, gathers crowds.
00:10:53:08 – 00:11:24:06
Unknown
But multiplication changes and reproduces with the DNA of Christ. Think about the communion table where Jesus gathered his disciples. Think about the moment in the boats with his disciples. Think about the moments of Jesus teaching the crowds. Always his disciples were there. 12 disciples were instructed by the wisdom of Jesus and later filled with the life of Jesus to accomplish what thousands of spectators never could.
00:11:24:09 – 00:11:34:12
Unknown
They turned the world upside down with the multiplication of a new humanity, the one Jesus birthed.
00:11:34:14 – 00:12:00:09
Unknown
Like Jonathan said, most of the time we we talk about or we think about multiplication. We’re just thinking about numbers. And although, like he said, with addition and multiplication mathematics, it is there is increasing of numbers as true. But multiplication does something more. And he just hit it. And I wanted to expand it a little bit more, because multiplication has two essential components.
00:12:00:09 – 00:12:23:18
Unknown
Spiritually it increases and it preserves identity. It both increases because that’s the nature of multiplication. We can’t talk about multiplication without talking about increase. But the reality is the goal of multiplication is to preserve identity.
00:12:23:20 – 00:12:57:10
Unknown
Multiplication is not simply about getting bigger. It’s about reproducing the same life in the next generation. It’s about the DNA reproducing. It is not about getting bigger, gathering more. It is about reproducing what God has already done on the inside, what God has already done in the inside here, and getting it more, reproducing it outside. Every living thing has DNA, right?
00:12:57:12 – 00:13:18:18
Unknown
Every little thing. Living thing. DNA determines identity. DNA determines characteristics. DNA determines what gets reproduced. You know what the interesting thing about DNA is? It reproduces, but it still looks a little different.
00:13:18:20 – 00:13:47:06
Unknown
Now we have two children. One looks more like me and one looks more like Jonathan. But oddly, it’s the opposite. And personality one. The other one, the one who looks like Jonathan, acts like me and has personality like me. And the one that looks like me acts like Jonathan and thinks like Jonathan. They can, like, finish each other’s sentences and get in these, like, super deep conversations.
00:13:47:06 – 00:13:58:07
Unknown
And the other one and I are like, do we have to talk about it that deep all the time?
00:13:58:09 – 00:14:04:22
Unknown
And we’re Selene’s children. That’s apparently.
00:14:04:25 – 00:14:14:02
Unknown
But the DNA transfer is there. It’s super clear that lands and Isaiah are Foley’s.
00:14:14:04 – 00:14:47:15
Unknown
It is super clear that they are a a combination of us, good, bad and indifferent. Right? But there is a reproduction. They carry the most important pieces. The expression of how it grows in their life might be different. The expression of how it is manifested in their personalities and even in their looks is going to be different. But the core is the same.
00:14:47:17 – 00:15:01:13
Unknown
Apple trees produce apple trees. Human beings produce human beings, not furries. Sorry.
00:15:01:15 – 00:15:19:21
Unknown
Here’s the deal. Healthy things reproduce. Healthy things reproduce. By nature. Healthy things reproduce. Unhealthy things have a harder time reproducing.
00:15:19:23 – 00:15:58:29
Unknown
Multiplication is built into creation. It is built into everything that God created. Everything was made to multiply. Everything was made to reproduce. This desire to increase and multiply is woven throughout all of creation. Everything around us is concerning with produced producing more, more life, more fruit, more growth, more generations, more influence, more impact. In many ways, multiplication is and should be instinctive.
00:15:59:02 – 00:16:36:22
Unknown
Do you hear me? We shouldn’t have to try hard to multiply. It should be instinctive. It brings life. It expands capacity. It extends influence beyond a single person, beyond a single generation. This is our DNA. Because we are made in the image and likeness of God. And this is what he does. He multiplies. So therefore we must multiply.
00:16:36:24 – 00:16:45:05
Unknown
This is where we have to be a little careful, because the question for us as the church is not are we growing?
00:16:45:07 – 00:16:54:11
Unknown
The question is deeper. What are we reproducing?
00:16:54:13 – 00:17:14:26
Unknown
It’s really easy to to have a really good speaker and a really good band. You put him in the center of a city and you tell people what they want to hear, and you’re going to get a lot of people in their right.
00:17:14:29 – 00:17:22:12
Unknown
This isn’t about are we growing? It is about what are we reproducing?
00:17:22:14 – 00:17:27:15
Unknown
We will reproduce by nature.
00:17:27:18 – 00:17:36:23
Unknown
So what are we reproducing? You know that weeds multiply.
00:17:36:26 – 00:17:52:10
Unknown
Problems multiply, turkeys and music multiply. But we’re not adding them to the population. Count at the start of the village. They’re.
00:17:52:12 – 00:18:01:11
Unknown
Yes. Turkeys multiply. Confusion multiplies.
00:18:01:13 – 00:18:05:22
Unknown
Broken values multiply.
00:18:05:25 – 00:18:22:05
Unknown
Not everything that multiplies is healthy. Not everything that grows brings life. You see, when our values don’t go deep, our multiplication is nothing more than weeds.
00:18:22:08 – 00:18:58:08
Unknown
The church should represent deep values of truth that bring life and longevity. You see, the church needs to be founded on consecration and holiness, which is what will become the multiplying factor because we cannot produce what we do not possess first. Multiplication must begin at the heart. What we value will multiply. So you see that a of multiplication is not ambition.
00:18:58:10 – 00:19:15:03
Unknown
It can’t be. It needs to be holiness. It is men and women becoming so surrendered to Jesus that his life begins to be reproduced in others.
00:19:15:05 – 00:19:35:26
Unknown
A life fully surrendered to Christ will often stand against the current of culture. Because holiness confronts compromise, truth exposes darkness, and the kingdom challenges self-centered living.
00:19:35:29 – 00:19:48:21
Unknown
Throughout history, the people most committed to becoming like Jesus have been the people God used to change the world.
00:19:48:24 – 00:20:18:06
Unknown
If we want to multiply what he wants us to multiply, which is the life of Jesus, we must first be pursuers of the life of Jesus. We cannot multiply what we do not possess, the DNA that’s inside of us when we receive him, that we must possess that.
00:20:18:08 – 00:20:54:12
Unknown
If we’ve received the Lord, it’s there. If you know that it is there inside of us, we don’t have to work to get it out. It’s not about. It’s not about working for salvation. He gave us the DNA. We don’t have to work to get it. But he’s asking us to multiply what he’s put in us, right? So today, our expectation of multiplication must be founded in the clarity of what the church should be multiplying.
00:20:54:14 – 00:20:59:25
Unknown
We will always multiply what we value.
00:20:59:27 – 00:21:16:20
Unknown
What we desire reflects what we value. What we value flows from what we believe. So are we trees of righteousness or are we weeds?
00:21:16:22 – 00:21:52:08
Unknown
The church must reproduce the life of Jesus. Romans 519. So as for one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners. So also by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous. You see. Romans 519 tells us that throughout though Christ may be made righteous, God’s redemptive plan is to restore people to his image, to restore people to his intended purpose from the beginning.
00:21:52:10 – 00:22:28:00
Unknown
If Jesus is the foundation of the church, if Jesus is the head of the church, then the DNA of the church must be Jesus. His character. His holiness, his compassion, his truth. His mission. His life. It is the life of Christ residing in us, coming out of us that must multiply. It is being made like Jesus in the image of Jesus and becoming more like Jesus every day.
00:22:28:07 – 00:22:56:02
Unknown
Not because of works, but because of his grace and his mercy on the inside of us, working in us and working through us and working out of us. This is the call of God. It is his life flowing through us. It is his life being reproduced from us. Romans 829 says, for those God for new he produced ind to be conformed to the image of his son.
00:22:56:06 – 00:23:24:17
Unknown
Second Corinthians 318 and we all are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory. Yeah. Colossians three says, and put on a new self, we are to put on a new self which is being renewed in knowledge, in the image of our creator. Now the goal is always been the same.
00:23:24:19 – 00:23:55:16
Unknown
All of these things that we’re talking about, and it’s still the same, that the life of Christ be manifested in us, through us and out of us. People transformed into the image of God. You see, multiplication is not simply about getting bigger. It’s about reproducing the same life into the next generation.
00:23:55:18 – 00:24:28:14
Unknown
Populations growing. Communities are growing. The need for truth is growing. The need for hope is growing. The need for the gospel is growing, which means the word means the world doesn’t simply need a growing church. The world needs a multiplying church, one that multiplies the life and the hope and the love of Jesus.
00:24:28:16 – 00:24:36:09
Unknown
Alright, so are you guys inspired? Do you feel like you know what we’re about to announce?
00:24:36:11 – 00:24:55:13
Unknown
Let’s see. Let’s see if you really know. Still. Wait. You gotta wait. All right, I got a I got a graph I want to throw up on the screen. All right, you guys, if you think that the job is done, you know we’re at the end of the age here, and Christ is coming back. All right, look at this.
00:24:55:13 – 00:25:04:25
Unknown
This chart. This this graph is showing us the world population right now. All right. From.
00:25:04:27 – 00:25:19:21
Unknown
Yeah. No, this is the world population right now. Starting a starting since Christ. Okay, so there we were.
00:25:19:24 – 00:25:28:17
Unknown
Well, my wife my wife is right.
00:25:28:19 – 00:25:58:24
Unknown
All right. I’m going to ask you to go to the next slide then because that has both. All right. So now you get to see the world population with the Christian population. And what we’re looking at here is, you know, some some interesting development of the population. For a long time it was subdued. It was not looking like much growth was ever taking place.
00:25:58:27 – 00:26:28:10
Unknown
And there’s a lot of reasons for that. You actually could point to how brutal society has been to humankind all of those years. The fertilizer rate was really low. The tyrant situation was extreme. The disease impact was intense. All of these things subdued the world population.
00:26:28:13 – 00:27:04:14
Unknown
And then things started to change. Things started to change. And we see this exponential growth, things like agriculture all of a sudden was able to to support the populations. Things like medical advances all of a sudden were enabling survival from disease and things like that. Things like fritillary rates were more successful. And there was this result that brought growth.
00:27:04:16 – 00:27:31:06
Unknown
But here we are, the church in the same time. And this church history has experienced some amazing moments in history where the population of the Christian church also expanded at the time of Jesus. Right. We’re starting at at numero zero. He had to come onto the scene and convince people that he was the way, the truth and the life.
00:27:31:08 – 00:28:05:09
Unknown
At that moment in time, he had to make a case to get people to think differently, to believe differently, and to actually make different decisions about their life. When he came on the scene, he started preaching to people. And what were they amazed by? They were amazed by his wisdom. They were seeing miracles. They were encountering a man who was just doing life so different from everyone else.
00:28:05:16 – 00:28:45:18
Unknown
It was at this moment in time that we got to see God show up, and he showed up for a purpose. His purpose was to take humanity and to to fix it. But in Ephesians 215 to 16 it says that he created in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross by which he put to death their hostility.
00:28:45:21 – 00:29:32:28
Unknown
Humanity at that moment on the graph is all of the sudden being introduced to another humanity, to a second type of being, as it were, because it’s so extreme and so true what God does that there’s now two humanity’s at war with each other. And that’s continuing today. You guys, there is there is a struggle in this place, right, that we all face with our own families to walk in unity, to walk in in agreement with who Jesus is and what Jesus requires.
00:29:33:00 – 00:29:39:06
Unknown
We we wrestle with this idea.
00:29:39:08 – 00:29:42:07
Unknown
Of Christ.
00:29:42:09 – 00:29:50:14
Unknown
Why? What’s happening there?
00:29:50:16 – 00:29:57:05
Unknown
The hostility of this old humanity, this old nature.
00:29:57:08 – 00:30:30:14
Unknown
With this new nature found in Jesus Christ is happening, you guys. But the other thing you’re going to see on this chart is how many people exist on the planet right now. It’s really taken a a change from when I grew up in high school. I think it was around 5 billion when I was reading my textbooks. Now we’re up to 8.3, depending on who’s counting.
00:30:30:16 – 00:30:35:12
Unknown
Christianity is up to 2.65.
00:30:35:15 – 00:30:46:25
Unknown
That means there’s a lot of people that don’t know this Jesus.
00:30:46:27 – 00:31:00:18
Unknown
It even appears that our growth as Christians is slower than the rest of the world population. The mission field seems to be getting larger.
00:31:00:21 – 00:31:25:04
Unknown
And so we’re after to ask ourselves, are we anxious enough to embrace the challenge of what this means, what this really means to you and I? Jesus invested deeply in 12 disciples and what he started with a handful of ordinary men has reached this count.
00:31:25:07 – 00:31:49:29
Unknown
And so here we are today. Multiplication is God’s design, and we have to ask ourselves, how passionate are we about multiplying the church? If you were to take a moment here and just ask yourself. Am I passionate about my relationship with the Lord? That answer.
00:31:50:01 – 00:32:22:22
Unknown
Means there’s a there’s a reality in your life at work. There’s a there’s a truth in your life at work. And that truth is you are of this humanity that Jesus has, has started off through his death, burial and resurrection. A that brings a oneness to the father. And so today we’re stepping into that. But we’re we’re still having to confront realities.
00:32:22:24 – 00:32:28:01
Unknown
I have another another slide.
00:32:28:04 – 00:32:36:07
Unknown
If you want to go to it. It’s like a chart or a graph, I hope.
00:32:36:11 – 00:32:46:14
Unknown
I hope it’s on there like a Excel spreadsheet kind of look.
00:32:46:16 – 00:33:18:05
Unknown
All right. Well I’m going to have to reference that. But the the reference points. Oh there there it is. But you probably can’t see those. So but what I’m looking at is the year 1900, there were 558 million Christians and 200 muslins.
00:33:18:07 – 00:33:26:20
Unknown
200 million Muslims. Hey, there we go. Sweet.
00:33:26:23 – 00:33:35:12
Unknown
And what we’re seeing here is another group of people passionate about multiplication.
00:33:35:14 – 00:33:51:03
Unknown
What’s really interesting is while the Christian share of the population seems to be falling, the Muslim share of the population seems to be rising.
00:33:51:05 – 00:33:55:14
Unknown
And you have to ask yourself why?
00:33:55:16 – 00:34:02:23
Unknown
Are we less convinced about what we believe?
00:34:02:25 – 00:34:07:28
Unknown
Than they are?
00:34:08:00 – 00:34:11:04
Unknown
I would say yes.
00:34:11:06 – 00:35:00:16
Unknown
I would say a lot of people go to church so they they identify as a Christian, but they they don’t have the DNA of Christ at work in their life. And so they’re willing to keep living life in a way that is not multiplying the church. It’s multiplying a world that Jesus came to change. And so though the the opportunity for us to have Christ in our heart is embraced, we’re seeing that not many Christians believe it because they’re not changing their life because of it.
00:35:00:19 – 00:35:19:12
Unknown
And that is showing up in what’s happening in our world. And so. A group of people seem to be embracing it. But that’s a tricky group of people to.
00:35:19:15 – 00:35:48:01
Unknown
Reference because it’s coming from a different place. They are not preaching a message that says, Christ is in you and you’re a new person. They’re preaching a message that says, if you act this way, you can get to this place of Paradise. So there is no there is no DNA transfer. It’s simply a compliance message, a compliance doctrine.
00:35:48:03 – 00:35:53:10
Unknown
And that seems to be pretty effective.
00:35:53:12 – 00:36:06:08
Unknown
But they’re probably using tactics like fear. If you do not embrace this faith, you may be beheaded. Okay, I’m going to.
00:36:06:11 – 00:36:39:06
Unknown
I’m going to I’m going to join your side. I want to live. It’s got to be better than dying. So fear is at work. But what’s not supposed to be at work is fear. In this Christian faith, what’s supposed to be at work? Their love. So when we get excited about talking about multiplying and increasing and doing something about it, it literally has to come from this place of love.
00:36:39:09 – 00:37:07:23
Unknown
If it doesn’t, we’re going to continue to lose ground here because it doesn’t reflect what what Jesus is accomplishing. What Jesus is accomplishing is so absolute. There’s actually not much we can do about it. When I embrace the message of Jesus, I’m changed.
00:37:07:26 – 00:37:24:06
Unknown
I’m saved. I’m redeemed. I’m reconciled to the father. But you know what I don’t have to do when I do that. I don’t have to share it with anybody else.
00:37:24:08 – 00:37:38:04
Unknown
But that becomes a hard problem. Why do we not love it that much where we are afraid to share it with others?
00:37:38:06 – 00:37:46:10
Unknown
And this is I’m pressing, pressing into this tension because.
00:37:46:12 – 00:38:19:12
Unknown
I would say what we do gathering ourselves together on a Sunday, serving the needs of a community. Really laying your life down for your family, embracing these concepts of sacrificial love. It actually is really difficult. And it takes effort. It takes time because you have to surrender your passions and pleasures to what would be more fun.
00:38:19:15 – 00:38:49:13
Unknown
Right? And so it’s not easy asking people to say, hey, you guys, we want to start a church and we’re going to do it. And then everybody just jump on board. Yeah, let’s do it. Let’s do it. Well, what does starting a church mean? It it actually means work. It actually means okay, take a deep breath. What am I about to get myself into?
00:38:49:15 – 00:39:23:20
Unknown
And I’ve made that choice. I’ve counted that cost. I’ve said, okay, Lord, I’m willing. Send me. I’m saying yes, but I can’t make that decision for you. You have to make that decision from your own place of faith and desire with the father, that relationship, that desire to understand that the message of Christ is not being reflected well in the world we know today.
00:39:23:22 – 00:39:26:29
Unknown
And that’s a.
00:39:27:02 – 00:39:58:24
Unknown
That’s a challenge to me. Okay. How am I? How am I positioning myself here? And that’s the challenge I want to lay out to you guys today, because it is exciting that we’re getting ready to announce starting a church shall take the next the next step.
00:39:58:26 – 00:40:33:01
Unknown
It’s so off the notes. But it was it was way more interesting. You guys, I had to I had to change the the moment. All right. Now here’s the reality God has positioning us for multiplication. Right. And it is a response to what God is doing. Because like I said healthy things multiply. So healthy churches and and so because duplication is in our DNA, we do see God leading us to plant another church.
00:40:33:03 – 00:40:51:06
Unknown
So today we are announcing that we are officially intend to plant a campus church in Jamestown.
00:40:51:08 – 00:41:05:17
Unknown
And the Lord has brought clear direction that Jeremiah and Michelle should lead this charge.
00:41:05:20 – 00:41:17:11
Unknown
So on the 25th, we’re going to be ordaining Jeremy with Pastor Les Bolling here. Yeah. Come on.
00:41:17:13 – 00:41:43:24
Unknown
And in the weeks ahead, we’re going to be putting a team together that will go with them to make this this next step happen. Yeah. It’s really important to us and to, you know, our whole core team that the the Lord’s put so much in us in this season about fivefold ministry and about teams that we’re not sending a leader in a couple of people to help them.
00:41:43:26 – 00:42:08:13
Unknown
We are sending a team with leaders. And so we are in the process of meeting with some people, praying into what that team is going to look like, but filled with the fivefold ministry apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers so that the church can be built on the foundation of the Apostle and the prophet with the gifts functioning in them.
00:42:08:16 – 00:42:30:22
Unknown
And we do have the intent. We get asked, it is going to be named Word of Life Jamestown, and we are going to be word of life. And God is doing things we don’t know, all the things we we promise you. We will keep you informed, but we want you guys to partner with us in what God is doing.
00:42:30:24 – 00:42:54:11
Unknown
Because this could be a couple months. It could be nine months, it could be a year. We don’t know all the details. There’s some doors God has to open. And so we’re praying into God opening those strategic doors. And we know he will in the right time. And we know it is a now time that God is doing things here in this community, and that we are supposed to be part of it.
00:42:54:11 – 00:43:19:15
Unknown
From the gateway to our community to the top of the mountain. The Lord’s calling us to this community in a new way. So we’re so excited. We are. Yeah. And Holy Spirit’s Holy Spirit’s been amazing. And how he’s confirmed and brought direction. There’s been prophets that. Have you spoken about where we should start a church and who we should send?
00:43:19:18 – 00:43:39:08
Unknown
And so we had our minds kind of made up, and we had felt Holy Spirit had led us in a in a certain way. And then we get a confirmation from somebody that has no idea what we’re doing and what, where we’re going and who we’re thinking. And, and so that kind of stuff just keeps continuing to happen.
00:43:39:08 – 00:44:03:17
Unknown
And that’s why Holy Spirit is building this church. We’re seeing him open doors. We’re seeing him bring people. We’ve had more people. It seems like coming to our church to visit from Jamestown over the last six months, you know, and it’s been a remarkable, you know, a shift or surprise in all of this. And we’re just sitting on this going, wow, God, you’re you’re so amazing.
00:44:03:20 – 00:44:35:17
Unknown
And we’re so grateful to be doing this, but we want to do this well. And so we have been doing this well. We’ve been connecting with the pastors in the community. This is something that they’ve prayed alongside of us with about. It’s something that is is coming from a place of, of cooperation and desire for God to build his church, for people to come to a greater knowledge of, of this message that brings life and not death.
00:44:35:17 – 00:45:03:25
Unknown
And so there’s there’s a shift in the overall church and how we are embracing this call. And it’s it’s really creating a unity and a passion that enables everybody to thrive and to grow. And so it’s been a fun story leading up to this, and we’re excited for how to how it’s going to unfold. We’ve also had about every decade since our church started.
00:45:03:28 – 00:45:31:14
Unknown
We have prophetic word from different people from all over the world about church planting, multiplication, replication, church planting, multiplication, replication, church planting, multiplication, replication, and over and over and over again, literally in every decade. And I’m not we’re not going to read them all today for the sake of time. And Pastor Celine could give you a whole list of them because she combined them all for us.
00:45:31:17 – 00:45:58:10
Unknown
And because this is what God has asked this church to do, and we’ve done it in measure, and we have planted and we have sent, and God is blessing those places that have been planted from this house. But I believe that he’s bringing us into a new season of multiplication. And this is not just a one thing, one time thing, but that God is beginning this process of a of a more fast paced multiplication.
00:45:58:10 – 00:46:11:29
Unknown
And we’re excited about it. So but for us, what what must we do going forward? First of all, we can’t all attend Jamestown Church.
00:46:12:02 – 00:46:23:17
Unknown
Be work, be work. But here’s the deal we must grow strong in unity.
00:46:23:19 – 00:47:09:09
Unknown
Because we are still one body. Ephesians four says, therefore the eye, therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling for which you are called, with all loneliness and gentleness, longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, one spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all, and in you all.
00:47:09:12 – 00:47:21:05
Unknown
This is something that we are going to have to protect, because multiplication without unity creates division.
00:47:21:07 – 00:47:55:21
Unknown
Multiplication without unity creates division. Unity protects what God is building. The enemy would love for us to become distracted, to become offended, to become isolated or divided. But healthy multiplication requires healthy relationships. And the stronger we grow in unity, the stronger we grow in our ability to multiply. So we must we must be stewards of what God has given us.
00:47:55:23 – 00:48:29:23
Unknown
We must be purposeful with our time, our families, our gifts, and our resources. As God blesses us, he intends for us to become a blessing. Business leaders. We need to steward influence and resources for Kingdom impact families. We need to become places where faith is passed to the next generation. Every believer. We must understand what God has placed in our hands and be used for his purpose.
00:48:29:26 – 00:49:00:09
Unknown
We must become disciple makers. The mission of the church is in attendance. The mission has always been discipleship. So our responsibility in this season is to pray, to invite, to disciple and to multiply. I said it a couple weeks ago. We’re going to continue to say it throughout the series that our responsibility is to pray. Pray for the lost, pray for the church, pray for the laborers.
00:49:00:10 – 00:49:33:03
Unknown
Pray for the church planters. Pray for who God is bringing. Pray for those that God is trying. We must invite. We may need to bring people to Jesus. We need to bring people into community and family. It’s not enough just to introduce them to Jesus. That’s a wonderful thing. But there is so much more. When they become introduced to the family of God and the relationships that God has for them, we must disciple.
00:49:33:06 – 00:50:08:04
Unknown
That means we have to invest in people. Jesus was the model of discipleship and he did everything with those guys. We must invest, we must walk, we must teach, and then we must multiply. We have to help others become disciple makers. I love what David said. Who’s discipling you and who are you discipling? Always. The church needs to build disciples who pray, invite, disciple and multiply.
00:50:08:06 – 00:50:55:24
Unknown
Everyone needs to understand that they are part of God’s work in the earth. And here we are part of God’s work in this community. Amen. Ephesians 219 to 22. It says, consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone in him, the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord, and in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.
00:50:56:00 – 00:51:21:22

Church. Jesus is building his church. He’s not building one that is just going to be maintained. He is building one that is rising to become the place he dwells for eternity. And it is supposed to be you and I join in his his desire to bring this at greater measure everywhere we go. And I’m grateful for this house.
00:51:21:24 – 00:51:49:26
Unknown
We’re here today because this House is passionate about following Christ, and there are people that have allowed themselves to be trained, equipped, built up, to be able to carry this message into an arena that needs it. A place that is, is got lots of brokenness that needs the power of God, and we’re going to bring them the love and faith and intention of Holy Spirit to rescue and transform.
00:51:49:28 – 00:52:26:17
Unknown
So that’s what we’re about. Church. I think it’s really interesting, that without planning this, we have some of our other church plants and outreaches in the house today. So we have Pastor Chris here from Turlock. We have Robert, Pastors Robert and Ruth Ann from Alaska. We’ve got Joe Jones. Liz is in on the other side of the country today, but we’ve got Joe, who we’ve sent him and Liz to, to Greece.
00:52:26:20 – 00:52:36:15
Unknown
Pastor Mike here. Oh, he’s just not sitting by Pastor Chris are Mike.
00:52:36:17 – 00:53:07:14

God is doing great things and he is building his church so that the gates of hell will not prevail. Amen. Amen. Amen. So let’s pray. Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you, God, for your work in our lives. God, we say yes to it. Lord, help us to continue to embrace you. Help our desires to continue to fall in line with you, Lord, and what you’re up to.
00:53:07:15 – 00:53:32:19

God, we just thank you for your mercy and your grace. We thank you for the visions you’ve placed in our hearts and in our lives. Help us to shine in these places, wherever we’re at God, from the the sports arenas to our professional careers. God to right here in this House. May we testify of your great love. Continue with us, Lord, as we go and empower us to shine.
00:53:32:19 – 00:54:12:29

In Jesus name. Amen. Amen. For those who are new, we are going to go across the way to something we call our fellowship. Paul. There’s food there and we’d love for you to join us. Share a meal. Tell us your story. It’s been a good day. God
Built to Multiply
Pastor Jonathan & Pastor Shelly Foley
Jesus is building His church, and what He is building was never meant to stop with one generation, one congregation, or one location.
It was designed to multiply.
Throughout Scripture, multiplication is not presented as a human strategy or organizational ambition. It begins with God Himself.
From the opening pages of Genesis, God blessed humanity and then gave the command:
“Be fruitful and multiply.”
The order matters.
God blessed first. Then He commissioned. Then multiplication followed.
Pastor Shelly emphasized that God never commands multiplication without first supplying what is necessary for it. He provides blessing, capacity, authority, and power before sending His people into the mission.
That same pattern continues throughout Scripture.
God blessed Abraham and promised multiplication. He blessed Israel and promised increase. Before Jesus gave the Great Commission, He declared that all authority had been given to Him. Before the disciples became witnesses, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would give them power.
Empowerment comes before mission.
And from that empowerment comes multiplication.
Multiplication Is More Than Growth
When we hear the word multiplication, it is easy to think only about numbers.
More people.
More attendance.
More churches.
More influence.
But Pastor Jonathan and Pastor Shelly made an important distinction: biblical multiplication is not simply about becoming bigger.
It is about reproducing the same life.
Pastor Jonathan compared addition and multiplication mathematically. Addition gathers what is available together. Multiplication reproduces from a common source.
Jesus modeled this perfectly.
He did not spend His ministry merely trying to gather the largest crowd possible. He invested His life deeply into a small group of disciples.
Why?
Because crowds could gather around Jesus for a moment, but disciples could carry His life into generations that He would never physically stand before.
As Pastor Jonathan put it:
“Addition fills the hillsides for a day. Multiplication changes generations.”
That is the difference.
The church is not merely called to gather people around Jesus.
The church is called to reproduce the life of Jesus in people who will then carry His life into others.
Multiplication Preserves Identity
Pastor Shelly described multiplication as having two essential components:
It increases, and it preserves identity.
Everything living carries DNA.
DNA determines what something is and what it reproduces.
Children may look different from their parents. Their personalities may express themselves differently. Their gifts may be different. Their lives will not look identical.
Yet the core identity remains.
The same is true spiritually.
Biblical multiplication does not mean creating clones.
It means reproducing the DNA of Christ in different people, communities, generations, and expressions.
That means the most important question for the church is not simply:
Are we growing?
The deeper question is:
What are we reproducing?
Because not everything that multiplies is healthy.
Weeds multiply.
Confusion multiplies.
Broken values multiply.
Growth alone is not proof of health.
The question is whether what is being reproduced carries the life and character of Jesus.
Healthy Things Reproduce
Pastor Shelly repeated a simple phrase:
“Healthy things reproduce.”
Multiplication is woven into creation.
Living things reproduce life.
Healthy trees bear fruit.
Healthy disciples make disciples.
Healthy leaders raise leaders.
Healthy churches reproduce the life of Christ beyond themselves.
But there is something important here: we cannot reproduce what we do not possess.
If the church is going to multiply the life of Jesus, then the church must first possess the life of Jesus.
That means multiplication begins with surrender, holiness. consecration, Truth, and compassion; the character of Christ.
Pastor Shelly said:
“What we value will multiply.”
If ambition is what drives us, ambition will multiply.
If compromise defines us, compromise will multiply.
But if the life of Jesus is what we treasure, then His life can be reproduced through us.
Multiplication is not fundamentally about organizational expansion.
It is men and women becoming so surrendered to Jesus that His life begins appearing in the lives of others through them.
The DNA of the Church Must Be Jesus
If Jesus is the foundation of the church and Jesus is the head of the church, then the DNA of the church must be Jesus.
His character.
His holiness.
His compassion.
His truth.
His mission.
His life.
Romans 8 speaks of believers being conformed to the image of God’s Son. Second Corinthians describes us being transformed into His image from glory to glory. The goal is not simply that people attend church. The goal is transformation into the image of Christ.
Pastor Shelly summarized it this way:
“The life of Christ be manifested in us, through us and out of us.”
That is biblical multiplication.
The world does not merely need a growing church.
It needs a multiplying church—one that multiplies the life, hope, and love of Jesus.
Multiplication Must Come From Love
Pastor Jonathan then brought the message into a deeply personal challenge.
If we have truly received the message of Jesus—if we have been saved, redeemed, reconciled to the Father, and transformed—what keeps us from sharing that life with others?
Christian multiplication cannot be driven by fear.
It cannot be driven merely by obligation, it must come from love.
If Christ has genuinely changed us, then His love should begin changing how we see the people around us.
The question becomes:
Do we love what Jesus has done in us enough to want others to experience it too?
That is where multiplication becomes more than a doctrine.
It becomes personal. It means counting the cost. It means surrendering convenience. It means saying:
“Lord, I’m willing. Send me.”
No one else can make that decision for us.
Each person must respond from their own relationship with the Father and their own conviction that the life of Christ is desperately needed in the world around them.
A New Season of Multiplication
Then Pastor Jonathan and Pastor Shelly announced a significant step for Word of Life:
The intention to plant a Word of Life campus church in Jamestown!
The desire is to send a team that reflects fivefold ministry—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers—so that the new work is built with healthy leadership and shared responsibility.
The timing and details are still unfolding. Doors still need to open, and there are still things to pray through.
But the direction is clear:
God is positioning this church for multiplication.
And Pastor Shelly described this not merely as a one-time church plant, but as the beginning of a new season of multiplication.
Multiplication Without Unity Becomes Division
Growth creates new opportunities, but it also creates responsibility.
Pastor Shelly gave one of the strongest warnings of the message:
“Multiplication without unity creates division.”
If the church is going to multiply healthily, unity must be protected.
Offense.
Isolation.
Distraction.
Division.
These things can destroy what multiplication is intended to accomplish.
Healthy multiplication requires healthy relationships.
As the church grows stronger in unity, it also grows stronger in its ability to multiply.
That means we steward what God has already given us.
Our families.
Our relationships.
Our gifts.
Our resources.
Our influence.
Our time.
Whatever God has placed in our hands can become part of His multiplying work.
Pray. Invite. Disciple. Multiply.
The practical response remains simple.
Pray.
Invite.
Disciple.
Multiply.
Pray for the lost.
Pray for the church.
Pray for laborers.
Pray for church planters.
Invite people toward Jesus and into the family of God.
Disciple people by investing in them, walking with them, teaching them, and helping them become like Christ.
And multiply by helping disciples become disciple-makers.
Pastor Shelly echoed the question Pastor David had previously asked:
Who is discipling you, and who are you discipling?
That question brings the entire message home.
Multiplication is not somebody else’s ministry.
Everyone has a place in what God is building.
Jesus Is Still Building His Church
Ephesians 2 says that Jesus Himself is the chief cornerstone and that the entire building is being joined together into a holy temple where God dwells by His Spirit.
Jesus is not building a church simply to maintain what already exists.
He is building a people who carry His presence into the earth.
A people equipped to go.
A people willing to be sent.
A people carrying His life into places of brokenness.
A people who multiply hope, truth, love, and the very life of Christ.
The question is no longer simply:
How big can we become?
The question is:
How faithfully can we reproduce Jesus?
Because healthy things reproduce.
And the church Jesus is building was built to multiply.
Discussion Guide
Short Summary
Icebreakers
- What is something in life that seems to multiply almost effortlessly once it gets started?
- Who is someone who invested in your life in a way that still influences you today?
- When you hear the phrase “healthy things reproduce,” what immediately comes to mind?
Discussion Questions
1. What is the difference between growth and multiplication?
Why is simply becoming bigger not necessarily the same as biblical multiplication?
2. Pastor Shelly said multiplication both increases and preserves identity.
What should the “DNA” of Jesus look like when it is reproduced in the life of a believer?
3. “The question is not, are we growing? The question is, what are we reproducing?”
What are some healthy things churches can reproduce? What are some unhealthy things that can also multiply?
4. Why must multiplication begin with personal surrender and holiness?
Discuss the statement: “We cannot produce what we do not possess first.”
5. Pastor Jonathan emphasized that Christian multiplication must come from love rather than fear or obligation.
What changes when evangelism and discipleship flow from genuine love for Jesus and people?
6. “Multiplication without unity creates division.”
Why does unity become even more important as a church grows or plants new ministries and churches? What practical things can we do to protect unity?
7. Pray. Invite. Disciple. Multiply.
Which of these four areas is God challenging you to grow in right now? Who is discipling you, and who are you intentionally investing in?
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for the life You have placed within us through Jesus Christ. Thank You that You do not send us without first giving us Your blessing, Your authority, and the power of Your Holy Spirit.
Make us people who reproduce the life of Jesus.
Deepen Your character in us. Grow holiness, compassion, truth, love, and surrender within us so that what flows from our lives truly reflects You.
Teach us to pray, invite, disciple, and multiply.
Protect the unity of Your church as You lead us into new places and new assignments. Give wisdom and grace to those being sent, and prepare every person who will become part of what You are building.
Help each of us faithfully steward our families, our gifts, our influence, our resources, and our relationships for Your kingdom.
May Your life be seen in us, through us, and reproduced beyond us.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
