Worship is not just a setlist. It’s not merely the atmosphere before a sermon or the emotional crescendo of a song. Worship is a battleground, an altar, and a declaration of who reigns in our lives. In this powerful message, Pastor Shelly Foley dismantles cultural misconceptions of worship and calls the church into deeper alignment with the heart of God.

Thank you, Jonathan. [Applause] Man, I was beautiful and powerful. There’s a lot of things in life that we don’t always understand. There’s a lot of things

01:03:10 don’t that don’t always go our way. But we can trust that he has our best and that he has something even greater than what we think. So this was not planned. I was not planning on preaching right now, but Josh had said he wanted to have Jonathan sing before we had gone into worship. And as I he was singing and we were preparing and Jonathan and I just turned to each other and he’s like, “Yeah, just preach. Just preach.” Because you set the atmosphere, Jonathan. You set the atmosphere of worship. Thank you. I love

01:04:01 your heart. I’ve I’ve gotten the privilege to know this young man for a few years now and um he has a heart after the father. Amen. We’re going to continue today in our subseries of worship and the overcoming church series that we’ve been on for several months now. And we are talking today about the power of worship. The power of worship. There’s more to it than what we think. Worship in our culture is usually a designated time in our worships in our services and it’s not usually after the message. Worship in our culture is a

01:05:00 band standing on a stage singing. Worship in our culture even is droves of people coming to see a band, to see a good musician play. But that’s not what God says worship is. And it’s really important that we understand what the Bible says about things because often when we have things in our Christian culture, they refer to a specific thing in our culture, but it’s not necessarily what the Bible says it is. And I’m not saying it’s wrong to call our time of praise worship. It’s not. It’s okay. It’s culturally

01:05:42 accepted. We all know what we’re talking about. There’s nothing wrong with it. But what we do have to understand is there’s a depth to it that goes well beyond it. And that is what God is challenging us to connect to in this season as part of the overcoming church. Worship is not a pretty song that we sing. It’s not even an emotion that we feel when we hear a song or we experience something. Worship is something very specific and praise is something very specific. In the last few weeks, we have been given

01:06:20 excellent teaching, excellent teaching about worship, about praise, about what it is to magnify the Lord. And I want to encourage you guys to go back and listen to those things because there is so much in what Kathy and Josh brought to us over the last few weeks that it’s hard to absorb all in one sitting. So I want to challenge you to go back to it. But there are some things that God is challenging and teaching us today that there is a difference to what our culture says and what he says. There’s

01:06:56 even a difference between it the two things that we like we talked about last week. Praise and worship. Praise being the celebration of who God is and the declaration of his kingdom and his kingship on the earth. But worship is about the position of our heart. Worship is about being made low before him. Worship is about sacrifice. It’s about serving. It’s about relationship. You see, worship in in most of the Old Testament and even when we get to the New Testament, we’re going to read it in a minute, is really about

01:07:36 building an altar of sacrifice. It’s about building an altar of sacrifice. Now, an altar is not something that our American culture is very familiar with. This is the altar, right? But an altar in the Bible was a place where something went to die. An altar is where they would bring the lamb or a ram and they would sacrifice it to the Lord as worship. Death occurred at an altar. Worship is about the altar. Altars, a place of sacrifice, a place that something must die. God is calling us to a place of

01:08:46 meeting with him. An altar was a place of worship. We saw it in Elijah when he came and he built the altar against the other uh pagan god religion, the pagan priests. That’s the word I’m looking for. The pagan priests and they built their altar and Elijah built his altar and they prayed and they worshiped at that place and God showed up in miraculous ways at the altar. Romans 12:1. Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to

01:09:39 God. This is your true and proper worship. Sorry, I thought I Oh, there it is. Okay, I’m going to read it again. I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing, which is your true and proper worship. You see, since the beginning of time, man has had his own ideas of what worship should look like. We saw it all the way in the beginning with Cain and Abel. God had established how he was to be worshiped. God had established what

01:10:22 it was that there was a sacrifice required. And Cain thought he would bring an offering of his own works to the Lord, his own toil, the sweat of his own brow. But Abel brought an offering that was pleasing to the Lord. Abel brought an offering that had to be killed and Cain did not. Cain defined what he thought an acceptable worship was to God by his own selfimage, his own values, bringing what he thought was his best to the Lord. Cain was a farmer. That is what he did. And he thought, I know I’m going to bring my best to God

01:11:18 as my worship to him. Now, it kind of makes sense. No, not to anybody else. Kind of makes sense. Maybe he had a good motive like, “Well, I’m not I’m I’m not the one that tends to the sheep. I’m going to bring what I can bring to the Lord. I’m going to bring my labor. I’m going to bring my effort. I’m going to bring the things that are important to me. The way that I make money, I’m going to bring that to God and offer it to him. That’s not what God asked for. He asked him to bring a sacrifice and there is no

01:12:10 sacrifice without death. Cain’s offering was rooted in himself, his identity, his value, his effort, his own abilities rather than the standards and requirements of God. He was trying to satisfy God’s requirements through his own effort rather than submitting to God’s ways. You know, there are so many times that we do not understand God’s ways. We don’t get it. The Bible tells us it’s okay. His ways are higher than ours. His thoughts are higher than ours. So, it’s okay that we don’t understand it. But he’s not asking us to understand

01:12:59 it. He’s asking us to obey it. Sometimes he brings understanding. I’m not saying he doesn’t. But there are times where we have to submit to God’s way. Even when it doesn’t make sense. Even when it’s hard. Even when it’s not what I think is my best to bring, it’s what he’s asked for. You see, true disciples are those who will be diligent to ensure that what they practice in their lives agrees with what is in their heart. This is the truth of God’s way, not man’s way. Worship is a surrendered life.

01:13:57 Worship is a surrendered life. Has nothing to do with this platform. It has nothing to do with music. Worship is a surrendered life. We are talking about the overcoming church and the power of worship. Because here’s the deal. Who listen to this? Who and what you worship will establish the authority in your life. Who and what you worship will establish the authority in your life. It will establish the power. It will establish the ability, the capacity, the freedom, the liberty, the jurisdiction.

01:14:49 These are all the definitions of authority. Who and what we worship will establish those things on our lives. Whatever you bend to, you are worshiping. Whatever you bend to, you worship. Worshiping correctly will identify and reveal the center, the base of our affection. It will reveal the center and the base of our hope and our satisfaction. What you are given to reveals what you love. Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there your heart, your wishes, your desires will also be.” Worship is all about power and

01:15:59 authority. Worship is all about power and authority and establishing a throne. Psalm 22:3. I want to make sure we get it up there. You are holy. You are enthroned in the praises of Israel, your people. You see that word enthroned means to sit down as judge. It’s yes to sit down or inhabit to dwell in. You know that I’ve always said that scripture wrong. I will I’ve always said you’re enthroned on the praises of your people. Has anybody else said it like that? I grew up I don’t know why. I don’t know that anybody ever

01:16:56 said it to me that way. enthroned on. No, you are enthroned in the praises of your people. You know, there’s a difference. You can be on top of something, floating around, but when you are in something, you’re in the nitty-gritty. You’re in the details. You’re in the mess of it all. You’re in the middle. You are holy and you are enthroned in the praises of Israel. Worship is about establishing a throne. When we lay ourselves on the altar in worship and we declare, we praise, right? We declare who he

01:17:47 is, it establishes his throne. And when a throne is established, decrees can be made. Rulings can be made, authority and assignments can be put out. Purpose can be established when a throne is made. There is a connection between authority and worship. When we bow and we position our lives in submission, we are enthroning him. Worship is a central theme in the book of revelation. It appears various forms and context throughout the text and it highlights the reverence and adoration towards God and the

01:18:39 lamb. The book of Revelation gives us a picture of what worship in heaven looks like. Revelation. I’m going to skip around between chapters four and five. Starting in verse two of chapter 4 says, “I saw a throne in heaven. I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. The one sitting on the throne was brilliant as gemstones like jasper and carnelon. And the glow of an emerald circled around his throne like a rainbow. And 24 thrones surrounded him. and 24 elders sat on them. And they were clothed in white and had gold crowns on

01:19:20 their head. From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in the center and around the throne were four living beings. Down to verse eight. Day after day and night after night they kept on saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God the Almighty, the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.” And whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne, the one who lives forever and ever, the 24 elders fall down and worship. and the

01:19:57 one sitting on the throne, the one who lives forever and ever. And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, “You are worthy, oh Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and they exist before you created what pleased you.” down to chapter 5 11 says, ‘ Then I looked again and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and elders and they sang a mighty chorus. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, who

01:20:35 was slaughtered to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing. And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. And they sang, “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the lamb forever and ever.” And the four beings said, “Amen.” And the four elders fell down and worshiped the lamb. See, Revelation gives us a picture of what a throne room in heaven looks like. There is a throne and there is a

01:21:21 king. And there must be perpetual worship around the throne. Worship always centers around the king. And whatever sits on the throne should be worshiped and will be worshiped. See, there is a battle for the throne in our lives. We talked about this early on in our series about kingship and lordship and our way making him our king and our lord. Are we building that altar where he is enthroned and can sit on the throne in our lives? See, our enemy desires our worship because he knows that it establishes a throne. Our enemy knows

01:22:22 that worship establishes a throne and authority. He understands that the worship of God creates a habitation and a place where God’s kingdom can dwell. And this is why there’s a battle for your worship. There is a battle for your worship because there is power in worship. It is not about a song. It is about establishing authority. It is about establishing the throne of God in my life where he can come and execute the words that he has spoken where he can come and declare the authority of God in

01:23:06 my life. That is what worship does and our enemy will fight us for it because he does not want God to be lord there and he wants to unseat the power in our lives. He wants to unseat the authority, the throne. He wants to be there. It’s where it was in the beginning. This is why there’s a battle happened to Jesus in Matthew 4. He was tempted. He was came up out of the waters of baptism and walked right into the wilderness. And then the enemy tempted him. First, he came against his identity and his purpose. And when that

01:23:48 didn’t work, he tested Jesus’s worship. He said, “Fall down and worship me, and I will give you the nations.” He was trying to give Jesus what he already promised. Oh, but without the sacrifice. How often does our enemy dangle God’s promises in front of us? Oh, we can shortcut it over here. I can give you all this, too. God promised this. He does not change in the very beginning. That was what he said to Eve. I’ve got something God already promised you. You’re missing out on something. Let me give you

01:24:42 this. He dangles even God’s promises in front of him. But we must be careful who we bow to. We must know and be in relationship with God. in order to understand the plan of God and not be derailed on what might look like God that might have the form of godliness but lack the power of God. What we bow to we give authority. We see it in Daniel 3. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They were taken into captivity. And we know the story of them being thrown in the fiery furnace. But do we remember the why? Is because

01:25:38 they refuse to bow in worship to the king. They said, “I only worship one God. And even if that was their song, even if he doesn’t rescue me, I will still praise him. Even if even if it doesn’t turn out how I think it should, I’m going to worship him because he’s worthy. And I’m not going to pay the cost of inviting an enemy to have authority in my life and the havoc that he will wreak in my life by directing his plans because he only wants destruction. The Bible is clear about it and he has been clear all the

01:26:22 way through history that he wants to destroy. And if he can take our worship, he gets a foothold of authority in our lives. But God wants us to build him an altar. God wants us to bring the things that need to die to him. I’m sorry, but we all have things that need to die. We all have things in our lives that are not pleasing to him. We all have sins or we all have our own agendas. We all have things that we need to come and build an altar to God and say, “I don’t know what else is going on, but you do,

01:27:05 God. And I’m willing to put it on the altar, and let you kill the things that are not of you so that I can establish a throne in my life. so I can establish you as the Lord in my life. He’s asking us to build an altar. Authority. There is an authority that is placed on appraising people. A people who are willing to build the altar and live a lifestyle of worship and then declare the praises and the goodness of God. Even if Psalm 149 says, “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged

01:27:55 sword in their hand to execute vengeance on the nations and to punish the peoples to bind their kings in their chains and their nobles with feathers of iron. To execute on them the written judgment.” this honor have all his saints. 2 Corinthians 10:4, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds. It’s not flesh and blood. This uh Psalm, go back to Psalm 149. The executing vengeance on the enemies of God is not about flesh and

01:28:37 blood. It is about powers and principalities. And we are called as a people of God if we have established the throne of God, him as the king of God, we have the authority to execute vengeance on his enemies. Okay, let me just clarify. Execute. We’re not talking about murdering. Okay, just got to be clear about the definition of this word. This word execute means to carry out or put into effect. to carry out a plan or an order or a course of action to accomplish, to advance, to bring forth with certainty. That’s what execute is. To

01:29:22 carry out the decisions and the decrees that have already been made by the judge. And I believe that there is a company of worshippers who worship God in spirit and in truth who bring the high praises of God that will execute the will of the Lord in the earth to bring down strongholds to bind the kings of wickedness. This honor of all his saints. It is an honor. Colossians 2:15 says, “He, Jesus, disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the

01:30:21 cross.” See, our ability comes only from his work on the cross. says he disarmed them. Disarmed, rendered them harmless. Jesus did that on the cross. He rendered the enemies of our soul harmless. He took their power. Now we must execute the judgment. What time is it? I don’t even know what time I started. So, [Music] in 2 Chronicles 20, we see the account of King Jehoshaphat. And he was faced with this vast army of Moabites and Ammonites and an army from Mount Mount Seir. And they all came together to attack Judah. And

01:31:25 Jehoshaphat was freaked out. But he sought the Lord for the gu his guidance and he proclaimed a fast throughout Judah and the people gathered and to seek God’s help. And in verse five, we see says, ‘ Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of the Lord before the new court and said, ‘Oh Lord God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven, and do you not rule over the kingdoms of the nations and in your hands is there not power and might so that no one is able to withstand you?

01:32:08 Verse 12, for we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us. This was just reality. Okay? I don’t think he was being like, “Oh, I don’t know. We don’t have power there.” This was just the reality. They were way outnumbered. We have no power against this great multitude that is coming. Nor do we know what to do. but our eyes are on you. In verse 14, the spirit of the Lord came upon Jehaziel and he said, “Listen all of you Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and you, King

01:32:55 Jehoshaphat. Thus says the Lord to you, do not be afraid or dismayed because of this great multitude. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” And you will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord who is with you. Oh Judah and Jerusalem, do not fear or be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them for the Lord is with you. The king leads the people in worship and praise. Verse 18. And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground,

01:33:42 and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord and worshiped him, worshiping the Lord. So they rose early in the morning and went out to the wilderness of Tikoa. And as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established. Believe his prophets and you shall prosper. This is a word for us. Believe in the Lord your God and you shall be established. Believe in his prophets and you will

01:34:18 prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord and who should praise the beauty of holiness. And as they went out before the army, before the army they were to say, sing, “Praise the Lord, for his mercies endure forever.” Now when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, and they were all defeated. You see, it doesn’t matter what is coming against us. God is

01:34:54 greater. It doesn’t matter how weak and insignificant we feel or even are in some times in our lives, right? God is greater. There’s a few keys in there. Jehoshaphat built an altar of worship to seek the Lord and then he was obedient to the word to take your position. It wasn’t like, “Hey, stay where you’re at. I’ll take care of them. Just sit back. Don’t worry.” That’s not what he said. Get in position. Position yourselves. Stand still and see the salvation of your God. See, when we build an altar, we allow

01:35:53 lordship and kingdom to reign. We see it. We saw it with Joshua and and Jericho. He took this group of people who were not soldiers who had been wandering a wilderness for 40 years. And the only thing they knew before that was slavery. And he took them and they God gave them this very unique battle plan. said, “You’re going to defeat this fortified city with your trumpets.” Like, “Okay, cool.” And he told them to walk around every day, just once, holding your trumpet. And on the seventh day, they

01:36:37 were to march around the city seven times. And after the seventh lap, the priests were to blow their trumpets, and the people were to shout. You know, there is a timing for the sound of God that needs to be released. Sometimes God’s got to do some stuff first. He’s got to get us in order. He’s got to get us in step. He’s got to get us together. There’s a sound that God wants to release in the church. It is a company of worshippers that will be united in their worship, marching together. everyone in their place in

01:37:15 authority and in submission. And when they release the sound, it will bring walls down. This is part of the executing the vengeance of God. It brings impossible things down. It is the sound, a corporate sound that unites before the Lord, wanting to be released through willing vessels to tear down principalities and powers to break through walls and break through hindrances that nobody should be able to. Jericho was a fortified city. Nobody could break through that but God. And he did it with trumpets. How much more can he do it

01:37:57 with us? He wants a united company of worshippers. There is an authority placed on a praising people. You guys, there is an authority placed on a worshshiping people. Can I get the worship team to come? It’s our honor to execute the vengeance of the Lord on the wicked and the oppressed and the unlawful rulers that have usurped the authority of the Lord. You see the church of God, it’s through our worship. Hear me. It’s through our praise that we can establish the altar of God. We can establish the throne of God

01:39:07 in our lives that can bring judgment upon the unlawful things. [Music] Isaiah 58:6. Is this not the fast that I have chosen to loose the bands of [Music] wickedness? To undo the heavy burdens? To let the oppressed go free? to break every yoke. This is what happens when we’re willing to build an altar. This is what happens. This is our purpose in the earth as the overcoming church to establish the authority of God. But you know, it starts here. It starts right [Music] here. True worshippers must establish

01:40:18 the throne of God in their [Music] lives. Are we willing to be true worshippers individually and corporately? Are we willing to build an altar? Will we be brave enough, courageous enough to come to the altar of God, knowing that altars are places where things die? [Music] Will we position our lives as a living sacrifice because he’s worthy? Sacrifice isn’t about loss. It’s about gaining. It’s putting something down and being replaced in the presence and the power and the authority of [Music] God. It’s leaving the

01:41:24 things that might feel important but in reality bring tren stress in reality bring torment in reality bring depression and anxiety. things sometimes that we feel like we have to hold on [Music] to. Moms, our kids, sometimes we have to leave them at the altar cuz they’re not mine. They’re his. Are we willing to be brave? Are we willing to let him burn up the things that don’t belong to walk in the fullness and the power and the presence of God. Church, I want to build an altar today. I want to build an altar today.

01:42:34 We need to build an altar to establish the lordship of him. [Music] [Music] Take this offering that I bring. Only I fall on my knees to proclaim your [Music] everything. My life’s nothing without you. Take my hand and lead me through. You are my sustaining love. [Music] I [Music] toship you. Heat. Heat. Bowing down. [Music] Oh, heat, heat. is that I only knew [Music] everything without you. Take my [Music] hand. Yeah. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Yeah. [Applause] Heat. Yeah. Heat. [Applause] [Music]

01:46:57 [Music] Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. [Music] Heat up here. Heat up here. Oh, heat, heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat up here. [Music] Heat up here. Heat up [Music] here. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Yeah. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat up here. Heat up here. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Here I am. Worshiping you with all I am worshiping you. Bowing down in spirit and truth with lifted

01:56:22 hands worshiping [Music] you. [Music] Worthy is the lamb who was slain. Holy, holy is he. Sing a new song to him. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. is praise you. You are adore you. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Yeah. Heat. You’re filled with wonder, all of wonderion of your name. We’re filled with wonder. were filled with wonder. All from wonder and the mention of your name. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Your name is power. Breath and living water. Such a marvelous

02:00:34 mystery. Jesus. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, your name is power. Such power. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. [Music] You [Music] see, the safest place for us is at the altar of the Lord. The safest place for you is at his altar. Psalm 84 says that every wild bird, every sparrow finds a place to rest her head at his altar. And we serve a God who said to us, “Come to me and receive my sacrifice that I’ve made on your behalf. Worthy is the lamb who was slain, the one who sits on

02:03:30 heaven’s mercy seat.” Because the Bible says in Romans 3:24 and 25 that God put him forth as a mercy seat in the Greek. So he’s not just the sacrifice in heaven, but the one that’s on the earth. And he says, “Come to me and find rest.” And maybe there’s some here that think, well, my sacrifice has not good enough. Even this morning, my sacrifice has not been good enough. The safest place for you is at his altar to come forward and lose your stress, lose your depression, lose your despair at his altar. Let it

02:04:06 die with Christ upon the cross because he himself has been put forth by the father as your sacrifice as your welcome into the very presence of God. So if you can hear this call, it’s not what you can bring him, it’s what he has brought you. It’s not what you can bring him, it’s what the father has brought you. a son, a connection, a sacrifice, a redemption, a forgiveness, a welcome to the father. So come home is the gospel call. Come home to his altar. This is what you were born for. This is where

02:04:44 you were born to be. So come to his altar. Come to him in the secret place. And know he said it is finished. Everything it takes for you to be here is finished. And from there, watch the worship pour from your life. Watch the tears. Watch the praise. Watch the love and charity and mercy come out of your life when you know he has provided the sacrifice. He has provided. The one on heaven’s mercy seat has provided the mercy that you need. And as we continue in worship, his sacrifice is enough. His

02:05:18 sacrifice is enough. Come to his altar. [Music] Worthy is the lamb was slain. Holy, holy is he. Sing a new song to give us his song. Heaven’s mercy seen rainbows. He’s golden rainbows of living color. Flashes of lightning rose thunder. Blessing and honor strengthened. Glory and glory to you the only blessing to you. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Yeah. Heat. Hey, Amen. Uh Paul and Jessica, I think uh you’re here. Sweet. Uh the Lord has a

02:10:27 word for you guys. So Rob Sloan, he’s a uh a prophetic voice lead in this house and uh a man we highly esteem. Can you use that? Hallelujah. I put my hands on you. So the father says, “I’m bringing you and I brought you into a season of shaking, a season even of disruption.” And so I want you to hear that I’ve brought you into this season. So it’s not um something that you’ve accidentally stumbled upon or something that um just by misfortune has come on you. I’m shaking your very foundations. And the reason is I’m coming to you that

02:11:10 we can partner together to actually inspect that foundation says your father. So I want to reinforce it because um even as my word says that when the storms come, the rains and the winds, if that foundation is not built properly and it’s built on sand, that uh structure will crumble. And so the father says to you today, I want to come to you and partner with you to um build and to strengthen that foundation for what I’m going to do in in your future. So this on a two front that the Lord’s working with this. So I want to bringing

02:11:49 this disruption to uh work on this foundation but also after there’s been a disruption even in as an earthquake or a storm comes the territory looks different the uh even the land and the terrain looks different. And so the father says, “The place I want to bring you into in the future is going to look different than what you’ve um are in now, but it’s going to take this shaking and this quaking and the wind blowing and the rains coming to bring you to that place, says your father.” So, I want to reassure you today that

02:12:28 I’m bringing and I brought you into this season and I’m going to walk with you through it. Says your father. Your name’s Paul. Hey, Paul. JT. All right. Nice to meet you. Jessica. Paul and Jessica. Nice to meet you. So, I want to preface this just quickly. I I wanted to know if you two were married. Okay. Okay. Thank you. So, I’m going to prophesy to you individually because I believe the Lord wants to speak to both of you. And some of the word is going to sound similar cuz there’s something God’s doing in both of you that’s kind

02:13:05 of identical. Okay? But he wants to make sure that you know that the Lord is speaking specifically to you, Jessica, and the Lord is speaking specifically to you, Paul. Okay? Paul, God says that I’m calling you forth as a man. I’m calling you to take a step in a direction that you’ve been a little hesitant in. It’s not cuz you’re a weak man. You’re actually a man that fears very little. A lot of people don’t know your background. They see that you’re quiet and you’re humble, but they they they just don’t quite know. But God

02:13:37 says, “I know because I formed you a certain way in your mom’s womb. And see, I formed you because I knew who you would be in a later state so that I could form you again.” And God says, “I have you in a new forming process right now, and I’m bringing you into what I’m going to call your God life.” It’s a complete change from everything you’ve built for yourself right now. God says, “I have plans and promises. I’m going to take care of business ideas. I’m going to take care of the entrepreneurial spirit within

02:14:10 you.” God says, “I’m going to cause you to be successful, but what I need you to do is focus on what the man of God is supposed to do, and I will add.” Bible says to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. We get it reversed sometimes. We want to focus on all the additional things and then like, “Oh yeah, we’ll just sprinkle a little kingdom on that.” God says, “Not so with you, Paul, cuz I’m calling you by name.” God says, “I’m calling you to step into your

02:14:45 rightful place as a son of the most high God to bring about the kingdom and kingdom purposes and all these other things will be added.” So God says, “I’ve set the priority now for your life. You’ve been asking God, what do I focus on? Do I go here? Do I go there? Do I go here? Do I start there? Where do I go? I just want to I want to get it right. And God says, I’m setting the focus. Your focus is the kingdom, the man of God that’s developing, the character of God that I’m developing in you, and all these

02:15:16 other things which you will steward and be responsible for will come along with that. But if you set that first, everything will fall into place. God says, Jessica, the Lord says, I’ve called you as a mighty woman. I’ve called you as a mighty woman of deliverance. I’ve called you to come into go into places. Come and go. Like you’re going to come in and you’re going to go out. And God says, “I’m going to equip you. I’m going to equip you to help untangle the minds in women’s lives to help untangle the soul.” There’s so

02:15:49 many that you come into contact with and you’re like, “God, if we could just help this girl figure this out, like she’d be set.” Like, you see it. You You see like the puzzle. You know exactly which turn. Like the Rubik’s cube, right? Like you see the turn, the color. Here’s how we get that all aligned and then it’ll work. God says that’s a spirit that I’ve put within you. That’s a spirit of discernment and there’s a word of knowledge and there’s going to be a supernatural ability to literally just

02:16:14 speak very plainly conversational language to people and help order get things ordered right. Help help get it all figured out. This is people in the world. This is people in the church. This is people everywhere you go. So God says, “I’ve equipped you for this.” He also says that a part of your equipping is that I’m coming to you today like one, the master builder, the master former, and I am turning a couple of things into alignment for you. I am realigning a couple things in your heart. And even a place that you

02:16:46 wouldn’t let anybody touch, God says, “I’m, if you’ll allow me,” God says, “I’m going to touch and I’m going to realign and I’m going to put it into the place where it is intended to be.” And while it might seem like a vulnerable place for you, God says in that place there will be such strength. There will be such power. There will be such an overwhelming supernatural powerful impartation that God will minister to you and then minister through you. As you yield, as you yield and as you trust him, he will

02:17:24 make this all come to pass. [Music] So the father also says son today I want to just come and bring healing even to your soul says the father for there’s even been it’s see even there’s like a roadblock just like oh it just it’s just this thing I just can’t push quite through and and it’s been even a separation with me says your father with the struggle and so father says I I know your heart son and I know those those u areas that have been hurt, those areas that have been struggled. So today, your

02:18:01 father says today is a day of [Music] healing. Thank you, Father. Thank you, Father. In Jesus name, we just speak healing this man’s life. Even those things even those things that have held you back and those hurts even from um those that have been close to you to even family those uh places of separation. The father says I have those son healing in Jesus name. Amen. We’re we’re going to take the time for one more word. you know, when the spirit of God shows up, we uh we just have to let him move sometimes.

02:18:51 And you know, I just I love that God is at work. There’s other faces in here that the Lord has a word of prophecy for. Uh but all in good time, you know, all in good time. The Lord simply just wants to declare peace over this household. just peace over your marriage, peace over your family, and in those places where it feels like peace has been missing, like the the overwhelming peace of the Lord has been missing and you feel like you can’t feel it, right? God says, “I am here.” And all the things that are going

02:19:36 to feel overwhelming. I mean, you guys just got really big words. And the Lord says like that might all feel a little bit overwhelming, a little bit scary, but I declare peace over this household. And Jessica is it? The Lord just wants to reassure you that I have your heart, daughter. [Music] I am holding your heart in my hand and I am protecting you. That there is no fear and there is no shame. That the [Music] overwhelming bits of life that just seem like they’re drowning you. Cut as I am holding your heart. and you will not

02:20:27 drown. For my peace, my peace will overtake you. And there’ll be moments in your life where you’re like, “This does not make sense. I feel oddly calm. Maybe there’s something wrong with me because everything around me feels like a storm.” And the Lord says, “No, my daughter, that is me.” Stand confident in the peace that I have placed over you, and you will bring it to your family. You’ll be the peace giver in your family. says the [Music] [Music] Lord. [Music] Amen. Happy Mother’s Day. God is building his

02:21:17 church. So, Father, we just thank you for being with us, Lord. I thank you for Lord bringing friends and family together today. I thank you for filling this atmosphere with your love. God we are honored God to follow you. Help us help us in our weaknesses God. Help us overcome those hang-ups God. Help us to uh see your love. Help us to know that we are forgiven. Father that we might walk in freedom. We praise you and thank you. Bless everyone and the rest of their day in Jesus name. Amen. For those who don’t know, we do

Redefining Worship Beyond the Stage

In many modern church settings, worship has been reduced to the part of the service led by a band on a stage. But Pastor Shelly reminds us that in Scripture, worship is never just music—it’s sacrifice. In the Old Testament, altars were not about ambiance; they were places where something died. True worship requires laying ourselves down.

Romans 12:1 reinforces this reality: “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” True worship is costly. It’s a lifestyle of surrender, not just a Sunday moment.

Who You Worship Determines Who Has Authority

Worship is not neutral—it enthrones. Pastor Shelly explains that whatever we bend our lives toward, we give authority in our lives. Citing Psalm 22:3, she emphasizes that God is enthroned in the praises of His people. When we worship rightly, we build a throne where God can rule, judge, and release divine decrees.

This is why Satan fights for our worship. In Matthew 4, the devil tempted Jesus with rulership—if he would bow. The enemy still attempts to derail believers by offering shortcuts to God’s promises—without God’s process or lordship. But we cannot compromise on worship. What we bow to, we empower.

Worship Executes God’s Justice

Drawing from Psalm 149 and 2 Corinthians 10:4, Pastor Shelly reveals that worship is not just adoration—it’s warfare. Praise carries a two-edged sword. Worshiping saints are given the honor of executing God’s judgments on principalities, powers, and spiritual strongholds.

Jehoshaphat’s battle in 2 Chronicles 20 illustrates this beautifully. The victory wasn’t won with weapons, but with worshippers. As they lifted praise, God set ambushes against their enemies. Similarly, the walls of Jericho fell not by might, but by the obedient sound of unified worship. Victory comes when worship is prioritized.

Worship Establishes God’s Kingdom in Us

From the heavenly throne room scenes in Revelation to the prophetic declarations in Isaiah, Pastor Shelly points out that worship has always been central to God’s kingdom. In heaven, everything orbits the throne. So too must our lives.

But this begins personally. Worship is not about public performance—it starts at the altar of our own hearts. As we bring our worries, identities, ambitions, even our families to God, we allow Him to burn away what doesn’t belong. It’s a holy exchange—our burdens for His peace, our control for His authority.

The Call to Build an Altar

Pastor Shelly concludes with an invitation. Not to join a song, but to become a song. To build an altar where our lives become the incense of worship, where our obedience becomes the melody. Sacrifice isn’t loss—it’s transformation. And in that surrender, we gain the presence, power, and peace of God.

In a world fighting for our attention and affection, this message is a clarion call to realign our worship. To dethrone every counterfeit and enthrone the only One worthy.

Sermon Summary

In this message, Pastor Shelly Foley reframes our understanding of worship—not as music or emotion, but as sacrificial alignment with God’s authority. She teaches that worship builds an altar where something must die—our will, pride, fear, or agenda. True worship enthrones God and gives Him authority in our lives. Drawing from Romans 12:1, Psalm 22:3, and Revelation 4–5, she emphasizes that worship is about surrender and establishing God’s kingdom within us.

Through the examples of Cain and Abel, King Jehoshaphat, and the battle of Jericho, Pastor Shelly shows how worship becomes warfare and obedience positions us for victory. Worship isn’t a performance—it’s a powerful declaration of who we serve. When we worship in spirit and truth, we execute God’s justice, walk in spiritual authority, and transform the atmosphere around us.

Closing Prayer

Father, we thank You for revealing the power and purpose of worship. We ask You to search our hearts and reveal anything we’ve placed on the throne besides You. Teach us to worship in spirit and truth—not just with words or music, but with surrendered lives. Give us the courage to build altars, to lay down our fears, ambitions, and sins so that You alone are glorified. Let our worship establish Your authority in our lives, families, and church. In Jesus’ name, amen.
